Wedding dress budget

I hope this is not too personal. I am some trouble budgeting for my wedding b/c our finances are really strained.

Just out of curiosity, how much are you planning to spend on your baraat jora? If you are already married, or already bought your outfit, what did you spend?

Re: Wedding dress budget

It really depends. Everyone wl buy what suits their budget, some may use more money for their dress where as some may prefer to put more money for deco or savings. So whatever makes you happy go for it.

I am not married and not getting married soon either but what i know is that when i have to buy one for myself it would be costing my parents a fortune :p cuz i would either be going for Nilofer Shahid or Mehdi and both are damn expensive. But i know i wouldnt want to compromise on my wedding dress in any way though i don't think paying so many lakhs for an outfit is sensible but then cuz of emotional reasons and my love for clothes, i wl have to make that sacrifice. But you never know some people get lucky and get bridals in a good price range so lets see, hope for the best.

Re: Wedding dress budget

well honestly i dont wanna spend too much either not that i cant but the fact is that i dont want to. its insane spending on the dress you wont even wear again (i know for sure as i usually dont repeat my formal dresses) but again we all want something out of the world for our wedding. so well i have been searching alot. you can get a really nice dress from liberty boutiques in dupatta gali from 80k. but if you find that too very expensive dont worry. go to anarkali and do a little research you can get a nice bridal for 50k i am not kidding. but for that you need to do alot of research.

Re: Wedding dress budget

it really depends on tht u wana choose a designer lehnga frm pics or u just wana go out for seach a lehnga on diff. shops around pk ;D

Re: Wedding dress budget

i didn't go designer and paid 62,000 rupees for my lehenga. it was full of kaam and really well made- it was through a home based designer in pakistan. so its not impossible to get a lehenga for $1100-$1500 but less than that might get tricky. pakistan is very expensive these days.

Re: Wedding dress budget

when did you get married? i am new here so dont know if you have told before. can i see your lenhga?

Re: Wedding dress budget

Actually I was talking to my cousin in Lahore couple of days back and I asked her about the rising trend of getting designer wear and she said this such a overrated view. Its usually the folks with too caught up in commercial side of fashion that see such a big point in getting a designer lablel, otherwise Pakistan has such a rich and vast craftsmenship that you yourself can create the most splendid clothes, be it a bridal jora or or everyday wear. Every other person in Pakistan has so much knowledge about types of clothes and work that people take so mcuh pride in putting the two and two togther to create a masterpiece. Seriously its all about looking good, people in Pakistan spending 5-10 lakh on wedding jora is anything but a norm yet stunning weddings does take place on daily basis...

So unless you gonna have a super posh socialite wedding where label of your jora will be the talk of the party, I suggest you to look for an option of going for credible home designers, there are many small creative businesses in Pakistan, there are home designer who've been into crafty business for generations...go for na authentic an drich look, don't fall with the glittery commercial designer commercial looks.

Re: Wedding dress budget

spent 85k on mine....which is wayyyy too much for me..as i had a budget of 50k in mind...

Re: Wedding dress budget

I spent 700 on mine… i mean what i had originally in mind didnt end up being what i wanted.. but it wasnt all that bad.. a lot of crystals…

Re: Wedding dress budget

My wedding is in July and I don't have a dress yet, but I have some idea's, my bhabi from pakistan said a really nice lehnga will cost me about a lakh and to me, thats just not worth it! I know I can find one cheaper, so I'm still hunting.
We should all just pass wedding clothes around ahahha
