I need your opinion... I booked a decorator today ..
i was charged around 1200 for stage (the tent style one since I am going for a morrocon theme) with center peices and table runners.. a runner leading up onto the stage ..stage covering.. and more morrocon style lamps along the runner leading up to the stage. I also got a mike and speakers installed for speeches and my broz ipod.
Do you think that is good a good dealÉ
I havent booked anyone for my valima which is going to be a while from now.
But just wanted to know from other pplz!

wanted very much to go with dreamparty but they are out of the city till feb 2nd.
Im happy with these guyz so far...but the only thing is...one part of their contract asks for full payment BEFORE the event...is this normalÉ

^I wouldn't be comfortable giving full payemnt before the event. A non-refundable deposit of 50% or less seems more reasonable.

dreamparty can be really OTT sometimes, i dont really like their stuff too much, but i do love Far East- the first few mehendi decor pics are lovely! and i agree with naqsa, it shouldn't be full payment before the event. that makes no sense.

I would appreciate a pic too SGC. Yea...i agree some of the designs for Dream party are a little too much but i loved some of their simple ones...Far east is good ...they were second on my list so i am happy i got them. I will be talking to them about the deposit thing. Thanx for all the help!!

Diya decor has really bad customer service!!!!! BUYER BEWARE
I had an appointment with Midu Verma from Diya decor and she was a no show at the appointment. I drove 40 mins to see her and then another 40 mins back. I booked the appointment over 2 weeks ago and emailed her to confirm it earlier today (as I hadn't heard from her) and make sure she had my cell number (in case she needed to call me). When I didn't hear back from her (by email), I called her work number and left her a voicemail, again leaving my cell number and saying that I was on my way.
When I got there, there was no one at their studio and there was another South Asian couple parked outside waiting for them (they asked us if we were also there for an appointment). We left to get gas and then went to Vaughan Mills mall to kill some time.
Meanwhile I kept trying their cell number and work number and left multiple voicemails. No one got back to me! Eventually when I called at 9:00 pm (my appointment was at 7:30 pm), someone picked up. It was a guy who works with Midu (maybe husband or son?) and he said that she has just left for the office and she and he had both missed their appointments as there was a family emergency and he had to be taken to the hospital. He said that he had just returned from China and had a chest infection.
To date, I have not heard from Midu. Even after getting back to the office she didn't bother to call to apologize. Personally, I think this is disgusting customer service. I mean cancelling or rescheduling is fine and of course, emergencies are understanable but not to bother to call, return messages or email and let clients wait around for hours? Eventhough I liked their work online I won't be going back to see them. There are enough decorators around and who needs someone so unreliable to deal with on their wedding?!!!! I've gone to tons of different vendor appointments so far and have not come across customer service this bad anywhere else! This was all really upsetting and a huge waste of time!

^^sorry to hear that Summerbr. I called Diya Decor a few weeks ago to ask for a picture of their doli, and the guy who answered said he would email it to me right away. He still hasnt emailed it to me, even though I emailed him twice after that. This kind of service is totally unacceptable.
There are plenty of decorators out there, Im sure you will find someone else!

oh wow .. that is pretty bad .. and till now i had heard only good things about them! but thanks for letting us know! who's so much time to waste in their hands all the time.. i'm sure no one!!!

hey guys…I just found this site on kijiji, and thought they had some amazing decor, if you mention the ad on kijiji, they will give you 5% off, and if you know someone who has had decor from them before, you can 10% off…I am in NO WAY affiliated with them, so Im not advertising for them, just thought I would throw another name out there, cause their decor looks amazing!!!
