wedding day dulha dulhan outfits

On your wedding days (mendhi, baraat, and valima), how would you yourself dress and also, how would you like your spouse to dress (ex. western or traditional, colors, fabric, etc!) Please be as specific as possible.

moona, first the guy issues threads, then the fetishes and now the wedding dresses..what's going on? Are you getting married?

I'll just be married off. When I don't have a say in that , who cares whether I like the dresses or not... :( :)

losty, kia hua? did u get married? it looks from your icon that something strange has happened. :D

hehe. no. Isn't it good Fun, i like this one coz she looks so shrewed and cunning. :D

awwww, lostyyyyyy :frowning: !!! agar aap itna hi apni hone vali shaadi ke khilaaf hain to shaadi nahin karni chahiye. Please think about that and get up the courage to say “no” to your intended and to your parents, or else you’ll be miserable.

on a different note, I would like my hubby to wear a traditional outfit on the mendhi and baraat and a suit on the valima. I myself would like to wear the traditional yellow/green outfit on mendhi, and any defining colors that would suit me for barat and valima.

 !!!

Moona, very nice topic. :) I was thinking of opening something like this myself.

Well, I had a red dress for my Nikkah, which was my husbands and mine choice, although red isn't my favorite colour but never the less, most tradtional and desi outfit for marriage.

My next wedding dress on my baraat will Insahallah be a light yellow - brownish indian langha, fabric silk, which I will have some more gold work done on it in pakistan. It will be traditional again. A traditional bride with some western touch looks gorgeous. :)

For my valima I haven't decided yet, would appreciate some suggestions. I think light colours suit me better.

For bridal make up, I will not go to the beauty palour for the wedding make up again. It took me two days, the first day before nikkah, I had my face polished, facial, manicure, peticure, mehndi ect.. done. The second palour day, the day of my Nikkah the bridal make up. I have to say when I opened my eyes when the stylist was done, I couldn't believe its me :( I looked like a witch, the make up was way too heavy, the base too light, I told them before that I wanted not so heavy, but they told me they did it light. Well anyway next time I am letting someone not so professional to do my make up.

My husband worn a 3 piece suit green-grey suit with I choosed for him.

Well Mona , that was intended as pun, the underlying point of which is and which often frustrates me. Though this trend is changing but still it is very much practiced. The fact that when girls are told that they 'll be wearing their choice of dresses the entire life, its just a matter of one day, let ur sasoo ma/ inlaws choose.
I mean its your shadi, why should the other people decide things for you.. so in many ways its not just always a question of choosing a companion but also how much people want to keep up with their traditions whereby any opposition in this regard is unacceptable to them.

The time for me to decide abt that hasn't come, however, i read this thread from the perspective of how much say/choice we have in such matters.

In Pakistan the bride has different dress for the different wedding occasions, don't ask why, but its so. For 'mendhi', the bride usually wears yellow very simple salwaar/kameez. For 'baraat', the day of the nikkah its traditional and heavy type of dress, mostly lengha or something simular. For 'valima', the next day of the wedding when the guys side invite the guests, the bride wears the dress given to her from her in-laws. So yes infact its a lot of dresses.. :~)

Did Rumi wear suits?

please let’s not go off on tangents…so what are your views re: the question this threads asks, folks??? what would you/spouse wear?..

Moona I don't know. I am so not in the mood to get married or think about wedding dresses aajkal i.e. aaj and kal...I will come back to this thread day after kal.

Femme, that's too long. Some of us be waiting in front of the computer for two whole days for your reply. That almost amounts to cruelty. Almost.

If I ever do, I'd prefer to get married at a masjid. I like simple celebrations. A nice shalwar kameez and dupatta, which my parents would probably choose for me. Groom I'd like to see in traditional desi wear.

Haha Roman... like anyone gives a damn! You naaaty and funnee boy.

What did I do now :( That was an innocent truth. Some of us value your posts so much. You don't have to be so arrogant about it :(

Munni…!!

I like ur view…wish u all the BEST.:flower1::flower2: :slight_smile:

This is a miracle!. 17 posts on this thread and NO ANA DROPPINGS yet???. Where is she?

Arrogance Roman??? Why I dont even know how to spell the word! I'm as modest as they come. As a friend of mine would have said...Modest is my middle name!

I am going to try and get Ana back here over the weekend FG. I miss her man :(
