I walked into this movie with fairly low expectations, basically dragged by friends to see this instead of Charlie and Choclate Factory.
And I know most of you won’t take this seriously since this board is filled with girls loving Johnny Depp but honestly he looks like transexual in that movie with all that makeup and weirdo look.
Anyway, Wedding Crashers by far exceeded my expectations. The movie was simply hilarious. The plot was typical romantic comedy fare, both cliched and predictable. But I could care less, because I haven’t laughed so hard in the theaters in a while. Vince Vaughn is finally given a chance to shine, and every moment he’s on the screen, he steals the show. The comedic chemistry between him and partner in crime, Owen Wilson, is simply a wonder to behold. At times, I almost wished they would just throw away the plot, and give the movie to them and let them do what they do best, make us laugh. Speaking of, Wilson plays a much straighter role than we may be accustomed to from him, which leads to character blandness at points in the plot, but when needed, his comedic timing was always on spot.
As for the supporting cast, I have to announce that I have a new celebrity crush. Rachel McAdams is just, wow, incredibly beautiful. Her charm simply radiates throughout the whole film, and its hard not to begin to be enamored with her. Isla Fisher also plays a very interesting character as well, to say the very least, with one act that will certainly raise the eyebrows of the more conservative watchers, while inciting laughter in those who simply don’t care.
If anything, Walken’s role was one of the more dissapointing in the film. He did fine, but his role was just so limited and confined. Walken’s considerable talent wasn’t given any opportunity to shine, and for that, it’s a shame. In the end, Wedding Crashers shines as by far the finest, not to mention most mature and adult, film starring the Vaughn/Wilson/Stiller/Ferrell crew. Appealing far more to thirty-somethings than the high school group, it puts to shame some of the ridiculous silliness of like Zoolander and Starsky and Hutch and easily stands as the best comedy this year.
If you’re looking for good laugh, Wedding Crashers should be your choice. :k:
