The weirdest i heard was about a wedding that was called off on Baraat day. The wedding had 1000+ guests and the couple had an argument over honeymoon destination. Apparently the bride’s mother was getting little nosey in this decision and that irked the groom and he called it the wedding off. His justification: If the mother is already getting so involved in the daughter’s life n for such small issues, she is bound to be a major nuisance afterwards :D. Uff!
My reaction was the same. I think this happened early last year, an aunty who attened the wedding told us about it. I found it hard to believe too :( So yah i dont know. Maybe there was more to it but most guests only good this version of the story. Who knows. In any case, what a sad event it must have been.
People should concentrate on the present situations giving it more priority than some future situation. The fault was with all of them. Mother of bride, bride and groom.
If it is true that it broke off before the nikkah then that was a good thing - people should have realised that doing a drama infront of 1000+ guests can end up with egg on their faces.
Advice to all ... marriage ceremonies need to be handled very carefully and everyone should be on their best behaviour, always giving priority to the other. What beauty would there have been if the would-be-weds were arguing for each other rather than with each other?
yup. something similiar happened in the west too. Billionaire Mr.Fisher's daughter's wedding was called off on the day itself when he asked for some changes in the prenuptial.
im on the grooms side:P
Why? :D we dont know the whole story so cnt really take sides.
wedding was called of because girl we too keen on discussing details of honeyMoon.
I was just wondering that if it had been the groom’s ma who’d been interfering with the honeymoon plans, half the above responses would have been…“oh what a horrible MIL, good that the marriage didn’t happen.”
Furthermore if I may just add such shamefull actions are sadly becoming more frequent.
I once attended a Wedding where both the Bride and Groom were happy but still the whole thing was called of becuase after all the guests had assembled some nasty spitefull third partywith an interest in the girl paid the Mullah not to turn up… and bribed others to leave the ceremony.
Whats worse is that it was the only wedding I have ever heard of that had to be held at late night becuase it took time to find some other Molvi sahab to finish what the other fellow left off. It goes without saying that the people still curse over that drama to this day.
