Wearing a nathni (nose ring)

Re: jewelry

sorry...i'll be a little childish...but it looks like a bugger to me.

Re: jewelry

yes nathni is a symbol of virginity and brides often wear them at the day of their rukhsati or nikkah....at the waleema day i have never seen that a bride is wearing a nath.

its just a symbol from the hindus...most of our rituals are taken from the hindus..which have no meaning for us but still meanings for them.

i think now everyone does this things just to "follow" the fashion and to look great on this day...and thats ok :)

Re: jewelry

i never wore a nath either much to the irritation of my MIL, but if you like it go for it. Less erbrides are opting for it now, previously it used to be kind of mandatory.

Re: jewelry

I agree with sali786. I think it completes the bridal look.

whats a nakail?

check this out, a sesky looking bull nose ring
http://gallery.nen.gov.uk/gallery_images/0705/0000/0062/bull_nose_mid.jpg
that is what nakail is i guess.

No, i think brides look really good with a nath, i myself was going to wear a nathly or koka just like that and i pierced my nose 3 times for that purpose but it was just not meant to be…
so now the holes have closed again.

LOL exactly my thoughts!!!

I never wore it...and people were ggoing on and on about how I dont look traditional enough..but I was like Whatever!!!...

people have enough to say aabout almost everything in Pakistan...tou might as well just ignore this comment...

I was asked to get one...and I did...I was made to try it on...and apparentlly it looked good....but just the idea of having it on in all my pix was just not pretty...so no nath!! :D

Re: jewelry

i think it looks prettyy! It does complete the bridal loook :), but I don't like those huge hoops, something medium-sized would be nice.

Re: jewelry

I hate the big hoop

wearing a nathni( nose ring)

hi! i would like to know if the nath is still in fashion. Personally i like the bride to wear all the traditional stuff. But these days in dramas as well as the pics on the net do not show brides wearing one. Wat r ur views?

Re: wearing a nathni( nose ring)

^ nath is very traditional, so if ur wearing a traditional style dress with jewelery, then nath will suit it... brides look nice with it.

Re: wearing a nathni( nose ring)

I wore it on my wedding day a few mnths ago.. and pretty much all my friends did too..
looks amazing and very traditional!

Re: wearing a nathni( nose ring)

its personal choice, it looks nice as gives you a very tradional look. Nowadays some brides do wear it and some don't, and as sara had said depends on ur dress.

Re: wearing a nathni( nose ring)

I think it looks nice and will be wearing one on my baraat. I guess it also depends on whether and which type suits ur face. I think the big hoop kind looks better than the smaller ones. I already wear a lil silver nose ring so I am quite comfy with look.

Re: wearing a nathni( nose ring)

i wore one when i got ready and realised it did not go with the look i wanted for myself, had some pics taken with it then took it off, glad i never wore it after, it depends on the type of lengha etc u are wearing

Re: wearing a nathni( nose ring)

I remember you had some prb wearing it,And i've heard its very irritating...
So, you'd worn a stud instead?

thanks for all that, can anyone post some recent pics of brides wearing it.
and besides wat kind r in fashion?

yup i replaced it with a stud, but most weddings i have been to they are not being used anymore, esp with typical asian noses!

Re: wearing a nathni( nose ring)

Yes i think its quite heavy n may be a bit irritating, but i really dont mind taking a little trouble if it would look nice.
I forgot to ask - on wat side of d nose does it look nicer?
Veer zara, u were saying that it depends on d kind of dress, cld u pls explain a bit more?

Re: wearing a nathni( nose ring)

By that, i meant whether the dress is traditional or not.bcz nowadays you get western style lehnga etc,and the naths don't look good with it.where's as i think with the gararah's it'll look better... but still many brides carry it really well even with the lehnga's.

Silsila looked really pretty without the nath,cz the style of her lehnga looked better without it... hope u've seen her pics.MashALLAH a beautiful bride...
And hope im clear with my point.. :)
so when are you gettin married?
