A very commendable move by Ehsaan and I totally agree with him. Commendable, because I know how vehemently he is against Musharraf administration, yet he has made the better choice to support the Govt. for doing the right thing, unlike a lot of people on this board AND in our media, who even to the detriment of country’s interests, are taking advantage of this situation and nitpicking on small details. It’s a real shame that some people hate Musharraf MORE than they love their country.
Furthermore, we know for a fact that MMA, Imran Khan, and Nawaz League are dying to get some political mileage out of this incident, so all of us who had been demanding for somethign to be done about Lal Masjid for months, MUST STEP UP, and support the government and defend it against the attacks that will be coming soon from the Politicians and the Media. It’s very convenient to be an armchair critic (read ali_baba) and demand this be done, that be done, but once our demands are met, we MUST SUPPORT THE GOVERNMENT in the aftermath, regardless of how much we dislike that government ourselves.

Great thread. Freedom is not free and it needs to be appreciated. There are many people that say that agree with this mullah's demands not the methods. If this demand of Sharia Law is met then there will be no freedom left in Pakistan.

Lets have a moment to think about the homes of Lt Col Haroon Islam, Captain Salman Lodhi, L/Nk Mubarak Ali and 9 other soldiers who fell in the line of duty. While we take a breath of relief, and the Capital’s peace is restored, smiles in these homes have been put out forever. For us, as a saying goes, they sacrificed their today for our tomorrow.
May their Glory always be a guiding light of patriotism for all of us Pakistanis.

They gave there lives so that there fellow Pakistanis and the world can be free from tyranny. I am not clued up on Gvt of P. procedure in event of deaths of troops, surely the widdow and kids will be taken care off?
If not, then let us start a fund for them. If one is set up, I will surely contribute.

The GoP and the Army takes very good care of its people on retirement, even better care on shahadat. Massive support all the way for families and children of shaheeds is guaranteed by the Pakistan Military all the way. Even their children are prefreed for selection into the forces, all medical,education, housing, financial, property benefits are taken well care for. If they receive a gallantry award, even geater benefits, protocol and support.
Pakistan Armed Forces take care of it all!

In our justified support for our Army in acting against the people inside Lal Masjid, lets not forget: the other side are people too. A fair number of them would just be people who only had this Madrassa as social/economic support, a number would have been sent by their parents in villages who know nothing of geo-politics and know very little about 9/11 etc, and a number who just believe they're fighting for a just cause.
If a mother mourns her son who died fighting in the army, a mother would also mourn her son many of whom might have been misguided, but decent people. while Pak Army will take care of those fighting for our country, nobody will care about the family of those who perished on the other side.
there was a two minute piece on Geo of a villager who had come to the Masjid to look for his son who just wanted to know if hes dead or alive. watching that was unbearable, i had to change channels.
