gensec, aside from the names i provided, I am sending u the list of team and their base in Islamabad. I am taking the phone numbers and names out, but you will have all this info in the PM, I am leaving the rest of info here so ppl know what other teams are doing, and what all to watch out for. I have highlighted some areas of this post
as u can read there will be rotating teams of doctors going in and coming back, so if u coordinate with them your team can be much more productive, safe and organized.
Please read the info below, get in touch with the right ppl and watch out for your safety, you will be there with expensive equipment, laptops, digital cameras.
**A base camp with a round the clock communication center will be setup
in Islamabad at Shifa International Hospital and all the equipment and
supplies will be stored there (9251-4446801 and fax no 9251-4446879) **after I
reach Islamabad.
I will leave for Islamabad this sunday with 4 team members for first hand assessment and
coordinationwith PIMA The fisrt team is compsed of 2 surgeons, 2 orthopods, 2
pediaricians, 2 psychiatrist and 1 int med/public health and 1 anesthesoilogist
This team will be picked up from Islamabad Airport by PIMA workers **
and will stay with me till their departure onwards. Depending on evacuation plan into shifa, these folks will either operate at **Shifa in Islamabad **or will be taken to **Second Base Camp in Abbottabad. Part of the team depending on need will work in Abbottabad or will be taken to 3rd base in Muzzafarabad and onwards based on needs. we plan to create **camps
in Batal,Batgram, Ghari Habibullah, Balakot and Rawla kot **and wherever else is needed Each team will rotate atleast for two weeks or may be longer depending on needs
The second team of ten people should depart the following week and
will overlap with the first team for a week and this process will continue
We are acquiring one satellite phone for each camp Each team should collect as much stuff as possible in your own specialty and take in your personal baggage e.g sutures, plates, aneasthesia supplies Medicine (mainly antibiotic samples etc), Vaccine Pain killer9Please have your local reps arrange them).
The main problems in the affected areas:
Harsh weather, Poor roads and Access, Poor communication, No
electricty and Fuel. The road link to Muffafarabad has been reestablished but
because of rains and land slide is precarious. **The road to other areas are still not
open and we are looking into airlift by the military and civilian side. Some
**Dacoits tried to rob somepeople but we have arranged armed gunmen for security.
we will try to do our best but in this situation, every thing does
not go as planned so please pray for us. Will keep you posted

Okay, if you want to merge with an organization keep in mind you have to follow them and do what they ask you to do. You can't go into it with your own plans...it causes way too much confusion...

GenSec bhai, I know you are leaving for Pakistan in two days. What would you want us to do with the $530 in pledges? Tell us the most suitable method.
originally, I was going to gather the money and purchase the ticket for one volunteer and send a photocopy of that to every donor and also post one here on GS. But looks like we won't be able to buy that with $530.

I talked to a team that is leaving for pak. I will pm you their number, big word of advice aside from coordinating efforts as you are trying to do now. plan ahead for clothes u will need, what u will eat what u will drink
most importantly,there is a massive chance of disease outbreak, make sure you have ad all your immunization shots. usually u should take them a few weeks before travel, but get them anyways, tetanus, Hepatitis, diptheria and what nots.

OK, here is my take on this…the original intent was to collect enough money to fly a person over. We collected $530 for ‘that purpose’ before all questioning started about the usefulness of such an action.
As it stands, we will NOT be sponsoring airfare for any individual.
Sine the original intent has changed, pledgers are under no obligation to fulfill their pledges. However, it is strongly recommended that you make donations to http://www.eqrf.org or Edhi Earthquake fund.

Donate your old Digital Cameras
if anyone here has old digital cameras, dsnt matter how old or how many MP, and can donate them for GenSec's team, Please let me know here or Pm me or GenSec.
He is leaving soon so you have to be able to mail them tomorrow or day after.
we are working on an online database of people missing, injured, confirmed dead, GenSec will be providing us information on these people with pictures so anyone looking for their reletives can search.
so we need as many cameras as we can get.

Already received SOS from back, Currently working out with corporate for a month off, once approved dont worry I will be in Pakistan soon, please get back with all info and plans.
I may be late, but will be there for sure, you dont have to worry about camera or images. Even delayed, man power wont be problem, can get lot of students and techs from media Industry, including professional photographers who can step in as vounteers.
Please do provide details of your plans, I have been already asked by some Gov organisation, but with will workout something, once go through your response or details.
I have a ground base satellite uplinking terminal as well with me, which can instantly connect for uplinking any kind of data or audio/visual, rest modified and designed to provide high speed internet access covering 300m at T1 speed, and live video coverage.
Would love to, but cant leave rightaway, unless leave of absence is granted. Still looking forward.
