Agree totally....because I judge myself as a failure because (especially most recently) people view me as inadequate etc due to not having children

have heart, you are by no means inadequate because you don't have children. it's a shame that people you have dealings with think that way. but you ought to know better than that.

Yes but it's catch 22, a vicious circle.....In the last few months I have felt so much more of a failure, so much mor einadequate, so much less of a woman because of how people have quite outwardly viewed me and let their feelings known. This in turn makes you feel such a small person and I judge myself as having failed...................
Yes I know I shouldn't judge myself based on how people view me/my situation........
On the other side, in my better days, just a mere 6 years ago, people viewed me as ultra successful, due to career, marriage..everything......so I judged myself as being in line with the world........
It's all to do with meeting the world's (unjust and inflated!) expectations................

bt sumtimes u shud also try n nt tke ppl's comments to heart coz sumtimes ppl r js horrible for no reason
u shudn nt feel a failure just bcoz u dont have children when it is in ur kismat to hve dem allah will bless u wid children , n den all dese ppl tlkin will b d same ppl congratulatin u n actin all nice

As for me , i judge myself as i myself n the ppl i trust view me .the viewsof the ppl with whom we r associated or the ppl we come across are not always rite , also many ppl are not 100 percent honest in expressing their views. some of the ppl we r associated may be jealous , some wrong n some plainly lieing. one should be strong enuff to judge himself properly trying not to underestimate or over -evaluate onself.
wanna_be_mum: u shud have more faith in urself . if the ppl u r moving with have views dat u r a failure u r certainly moving in the wrong circles. trust in Allah ask for His help n try developing confidence in urself. everyone lacks sumthing at sum point of his life . try considering all the things u r blessed with n ask Allah for help . Uss keh pass dair hay aundheir nahin :)

Wanna be mum...you are just in a bad place in this time...remember all is temporary. It will all pass. I do believe that God gives us the trials which we have the strength to bear. You are able to overcome this phase...look within yourself and find the strength...You are God's creation and are held high in His regard. Do not fail yourself by your thoughts.

I disagree. The statement might be true for people who are not confident in their own abilities or judgments. For me, it interests me to know how people view me but it is not influential in how I see myself.

interesting thought.
it is a kind of comparison that endangers one's ability to take responsibility of our own thinking and behaviours. that said, the idea that it can be a healthy thing to go with the flow is not right.

To some extent I think that idea is true. Everyone will perceive you differently. But at your core YOU know who you really are.
