moral of the story is we should be more clever and research more about what’s halaal and what’s not …so that we know in advance what to eat, where and when.

Re: We Don't Like Haram Stuff?
Last time, when I was flying to karachi, I heard a gentleman asking the airhostess if the food, he was being served, was haram. I asked him, "where do you live?" He answered, "Toronto!" I asked, "Do you possess a car or a house?" He answered with a smile on his face, "Yeah, Mashallah two cars and a house." I asked if these things were paid off. But then I finally got to know that his house was on martgage and one of the car was on finance. Dang! ... Isn't paying interest HARAM?
Why do we forget the word HARAM when it comes to pay interest on a house or a car or anything else? But still when we go to McDonald's we ask, "Excuse me, is your shortening suitable for Vegetarians?"
I know, it's hard to explain why do some people have dual personality. But still, if you follow Islam then follow it, do not follow it kind of.
As others have said already, just because we may not be doing something right doesn't mean we shouldn't try to do anything right.
