My wife and I are expecting our first child sometime this week. I would like my wife to breast feed but she is adamant that formula will be better due to more nutrition in the powdered milk. We are not religious so the religious obligation of feeding doesnt apply. My question is, is my wife’s argument correct, my take is more like desi…where hey “ma ka doodh piya heh” type argument.

"breast milk is best"...according to the American Pediatric Association....t's the most natural thing to give to a child....and is loaded with nutrients.
From my understanding it's a natural motherly instinct to want to breastfeed your child....for how long and how much is a personal preference. Perhaps her view will change once she has had her baby.

For a new born child, breast milk is better for the first few months, due to the vitamins and nutrients in it.
But i guess its a personal choice.

Breast milk is the best Immunization for a new born baby. It is strongly suggested to feed the child until 2 yrs old. Breast milk is like an antiobiotic for a baby ..so dont take that away from them

Everything aside, its your wife's right to decide whether she would like to be a human bottle for the next twelve months or so.
If she refuses to breastfeed then thats it.
Stick to the bottle.
Not all woman like the idea of breastfeeding.

LI: yea no one likes the idea of breast feeding but for the sake of new born baby its a must! Both Islamically and Medically..but sadly not many females in today’s world understand that.

Emm not all breastfed babies turn out to be healthy
Just like all bottle fed babies dont turn out to be sick
Its got nothing to do with the bottle or boob

i must agree with that....my sisters kids were breastfeed for 2 yrs...they get very sick...ALLLL the time it seems!
However if one views it from an Islamic perspective ...it is a God given right for a child to be breastfed.

What you have said is true.
However, the likelihood of a child developing increased immunity to common ailments is greater if the infant is breastfed.
Noor would take nothing other than breast milk for just over 2 years of her life. Imagine what I went through. She wouldn't even fit in my lap and I was still nursing!!!
But, Allah ka shukar hai, in three years of her life she has had maybe two colds and one ear infection. Most kids I know that have not been nursed for this long have had many, many more than this count.
The nursing coupled with my avoidance of antibiotics and use of homeopathic remedies has, in my opinion, given her a strong system.

I would not wanna be stuck in the house for 2 years just for the sake of breast feeding, because you have to feed them like every 2 hours? Since there are many benefits for a new born, 6 -9 months is good time to breast feed ... it is the best milk formula for a new born. And then you can slowly put them on bottle.

you don’t have to feed them every 2 hours for 2 years. 
That’s only for the first few weeks…eventually the time between feedings increases as they grow and are able to take larger quantities in one time.

It's a myth that formula milk is more nutritious. Most doctors now agree that breast milk is better for babies.

Why can’t you bottle feed them th ebreast milk? that’s what my friend does, so if she’s in public she won’t have to go through the whole problm of covering herself and finding a quiet corner and having ppl give her dirty looks

Easier said then done
Looks and sounds like a piece of cake
but ask the person who does it and they’ll tell you how annoying it is to sit there with a pump expressing milk all the time.
