WC 2003 - Super Six Stage.

Mohd Kaif gone for 5, India 24/3 in 10th over.

But with Gangulay and R Dravid on crease, the score isn't threatening.

Anyone watching the game, is ball moving at all? Why these batsmen coudn't play longer?

37 for 3 after 11.2 overs India.

A request has been made by Indian management to ask Kenyan team to wear Pakistani kit. It might motivate the Indians.

Ball on which Sehwag got out was moving. There is little movement though.not much.
Kaif decision was a close call.

India sucks

ahan close call??? kindly enlighten how was it a 'close call' It looked pretty adjacent. Shastri was crying that it might have sncked the bat but snicko-meter picked up nothing and so did camera.

**Dravid Gone 108/4

118 runs needed of 122 balls.

are we in for another upset here?**

Kenya is fielding like crazy!

next two overs will be crucial. Required run rate is about 6 an over which by itself is no concern. There's still significant above average batting depth.

Can you believe it? and I thought this would be a short boring match!

Upset, not very likely, to me India can win this easily. Unless an upset has been written!

An upset is on the cards.

Only Gangs, Yuvraj and Mongia left. After these three you got the tail - Turbs, Khan, Srinath and Nehra.

Right now, my bet is Kenya. Next 5 overs are important.

Ganguly and Yuvraj are playing nicely so far, things are on India's side right now. Lets see, if no wickets fall in next 5 overs, the game will be way towards Indian side.

WE WIN! India rocks! Maharaj and Yuvraj hurray!

WOHOOOO!!! INDIA wins.
:bhangra:

good show DADA and YUVI. :k:
with this india’s entry to the semis nearly becomes certian.

Munna.

why only 'almost'? I thought that gets us in for certain!

With due respect to Pakistan’s performance in last world cup - Please tell us how many matches Pakistan won in the Super Six in 1999 ??
We didn’t hear any thing about the format until the 2003 super six teams were decided ?

Funguy, Saby et all - India wins by 6 wickets with 2 overs to go and that should give you an Idea about batting second in D/N matches. Sehwag was out once again to a stupid careless shot, So was Sachin. The pitch or the swing didn’t have much to do with their dismissals. The batting of Ganguly, Dravid and Yuvraj proved it. It may be tough to bat but not impossible.

PS :- It’s nice to see some people who had lost their motivation to post back on KK in the chahat of India’s loss. :hehe:

Let's not forget that Kenya beat BD which is a test team! I think the Kenyan players may not even be full-time cricketers! Given this, what a great achievement this is!

I am so glad that they put up such a good show but even gladder that India won. In fact I prefer this win in this particular manner rather than through a Sachin blast out because:

  1. middle order gets some play time & confidence

  2. The complascency that the team after thrashing Pakistan, was noticeable today, particularly in fielding - I am glad it happened with Kenya so that Wright can fix this without a loss!

  3. Unfortunately Srilanka has been weakened and somewhat demorlaized. But notwithstanding that they are a great team and beating Kenyans that shocked Sri Lankans counts for a bit of unscientific advantage;

Is India playing Sri Lanka at all? I am curious to see if Ganguly can repeat his Muralitharan hits!

Well a great win for Australia - every time Australia have batted first they have hit 300+ runs - that shows the batting capability right the way down the order.

A great performance from the batsman against Sri Lanka - good knocks from Adam Gilchrist(damn unlucky) and Ricky Ponting - though a good innings from Aravinda too - the bowling performance wasn't too hot from either side because it was a great batting pitch.

And that result now puts Australia through to the final four - the first team to do so in this tournament. And dependant on other results and one more win could see them finish top of the group too. Feel sorry for Jaysuriya's injury.

Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist get the Aussie innings off to a flyer with some big shots in the opening overs.

Gilchrist is in sparkling form, smashing the Sri Lankan bowlers to all corners of the ground on his way to a half century.

A breakthrough for Sri Lanka as Hayden is caught at short leg off Muttiah Muralitharan for 22.

*Skipper Ricky Ponting takes over where Gilchrist left off and sets about the Sri Lankan attack with some fierce hitting. *

Ponting's 114 and a half century from Damien Martyn help Australia reach a huge total of 319-5.

Lee is in inspired form and shoots out the Sri Lankan top order to leave them floundering on 48-4.
