According to ulema either the hukm of purdah was not revealed or hadrat Aisha raziallah was minor when this happened. Hazrat Umme Salamah (R.A) narrates that once Hazrat Maimoona (R.A) and I were in the presence of the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam when Hazrat Abdullah Ibne Umme Maktoom (R.A) arrived. As he was blind it never occured to us that it was necessary to observe hijaab, therefore we remained seated. The Holy Prophet SallallahuAlaihi Wasallam ordered us to observe hijaab. I replied "Oh Prophet of Allah he is unable to see us." Upon hearing this the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, "Are you both also blind? Are you not casting your sight upon him?" (Mishkaat, Tirmizi and Abu Dawood)

"Verily the evil glance is a poisonous arrow from the
arrows of Iblees. He who abstains from casting evil
glances, I will grant him such Imaan, that he will feel the
sweetness of it in his heart".
(Narrated by Ibn Mas’ud in Tabarani and Kanzul-Ummaal; Vol. 5, pg. 228),
(Ibn Katheer; Surra Nur, Ayat 30)
Hafiz ibn Katheer mentions in his Tafseer:
"He who protects his eyes from unlawful gazes, Allah
Ta'ala will grant him the light of the heart."

“May the curse of Allah be upon the one who casts evil glances and upon the one who presents him/herself to be looked at.” (Mishkaat; Pg. 270)
If casting evil glances was a minor sin, then Nabi ﷺ, being a mercy to mankind would not have cursed its perpetrator. The curse of Nabi ﷺ is clear proof that this is a very despicable crime. The meaning of curse is to become distant from the mercy of Allah.

I can share a wazeefa with you.

Following is a very good dua which includes protection/purification of eyes from betrayal/corruption. I have heard this from many scholars.
Allahumma, tahir qulubana min an-nifaaq
wa ‘amaalana minar-riyaa’,
wa alsinatana min al kathab,
‘ayunana min al khiyaanah,
Innak t’alam khaa’inatal ‘uyun
wa ma tukhfi as-sudour.
O Allah, purify our souls from hypocrisy,
our tongues from lying,
and our eyes from treachery (disloyalty/dishonesty)
You know the treacherous eyes
and what is buried in the hearts

PS: This is what i follow and what scholar believe as haram, you may choose pick what to follow and what not to follow. :)
