That is completely wrong image spread by punjabies... Mirpur has lowest crime rate compared to any city of Pakistan... Mirpur is full of punjabies and they earn money from mirpur and still say bad things against mirpur.. couple of weeks ago a punjabi family came to my shop they purchased some thing and paid the bill.. and the guy said everything is very expanisive here in mirpur and i replied yes this is true mirpur is expanisve city and he answered "Mirpuri bohat bokhay hain". I said it is punjabis who are thankless ppl they come here earn money and eat from mirpur but still say bad things about mirpur.. one girl from that family suddenly said to her family that shopkeer is telling true thing...

For the record technically Potowaris are very different to Mirpuris however since both are very close in Pakistan they do tend to get clumped together.
Potowar is generally a platue though of flat land like a table in Northern Pakistan. Mirpur is a little bit more uphill and is in the foothills of the Kashmir mountains so Potowari people call Mirpuri's highlanders... though anyone else in Pakistan would see Potohari people as highlanders too which is kind of correct as well.
My personal take on things is that there is good and bad in all but sometimes communities like the Mirpuris get negativity becuase they are on the edges and will thus do anything for attention. Same with any fringe group really if you exclude people they are bound to turn to the dark side...

hey all,
Ive read all comments above and have to say im a little shocked to how judgemental some can be without knowing ppl. I myself am refered to as Mirpuri but trust me ive heard some of this stuff before. Firstly a majority of ppl who are mirpuri I knw are employed and have a respectable job and family. They are just like everyone else from all different backgrounds.
Ive just recently come bak from Pakistan, two months ago to be precise and got to say ppl there think of mirpuris as the ones that have the money and majority who are abroad. My great grandfather came here to the UK hence majority of my own family are here. We have in-laws who aren’t mirpuris, we intermingle with other communities.

Its not just benefit frauds.Mirpuris tend to be very obsessed with their biradaries.Divources and forced marriages mainly happen in this community.Someone is on drugs.Someone is grooming white or sikh girls.Someones acting hard and being like gangster.Most pakistanis in prisons are mirpuris.

Yes most MP’s may be jahil or thugs and whatnot and yes they may as well be speaking chinese for all i know since i cannot understand speech that goes 100 mph, but they do know how to stick together as a family from what i’ve noticed.
If they ever have arguments and stuff, they are less likely to be like ‘ok see you bye’ for another 12 years not talking to each other, but they will sort it out there and then.

Mirpuri’s are actually quite nice once you get to know them but I have to agree to biradarie bs that they love and 20 generation cousin marriage which is yuck imo - other then that they are kool reliable people.
