I just read Niksik’s thread, and this is a real issue.
How much water do you guys drink?
I drink not much, its mostly coke etc. Do you get any problems?
I get VERY thirsty at nights, like my head literally explodes till I drink some water, I usually try drinking in the day but it has no effect or maybe I am not trying enough?
I drink a lot of water...I'm always thirsty. I'm fasting today and the lack of water is driving me insane :(
I'm pretty sure I drink around 3 litres every day. Another thing...water is the only drink I can have aside from tea. I can only have juices, diluted drinks and fizzy drinks occasionally.
Saira you know what I have said about that  Though you’re right no matter how much I try to drink the thirst doesnt go away. So I just gave up in the end! For the night thing too I get so thirsty but me drinking water during the day or not drinking during the day seems to have zero effect, I’ll still get incredibly thirsty during the night
How can you not love Coke & Ice or a icy milkshake
I drink water thru out the day, atleast 2-2.5 litres and more when I am working out...
I used to drink coffee everyday and that dehydrated me and killed my thirst. Same with sodas...But once you make the change to drinking more water, you will see and feel the difference
an easy way to figure out how much you need is to divide your weight (in pounds) in half and thats how many fluid ounces of water you should be drinking...
I've heard water retention is there when eat typical desi food... Hence, if you start drinking too much water the retention can really build up in the middle, and thats one of the reasons why desi guys have big bellies... I think its called Type 2 water retention (the one that makes you appear fat with the extra lb's that is added on tissues, and its the one where no diets would work (long term).
on a normal day ill drink 1.5 litres easily, on work out days its 2.5 litres and i also drink green tea to keep hydrated.
Fizzy drinks is usually pepsi max or coke zero and like 1-2 times a week.
Water is sooo important!!! it keeps u full, stops u from getting headaches, keeps ure body working at the optimum and infact gets rid of excess water....water retention is from tooo much salt not too much water....the only people who will have a bulild up of water from too much are those with kidney failure.
I also started drinking a lot. maybe not 2 liters but more than a liter a day. I used to drink soda or juice with every meal, now I dont.
I used to think that I would be going to bathroom a lot if I drink more water but that is not the case. My body does not flush out the water at the same rate if I had the equal amount of coke or coffee.
To reduce water retention you've got to drink more water...when we're dehydrated our bodies tend to save water. To stay hydrated, we retain whatever little bit of water we drink. So the more water you drink in a day, the more you shed...which reduces retention. Also, cut down sodium intake to help with bloating.
Coke, pepsi, (any cola beveages), tea, coffee make the person actually go to bathroom more and dehydrated.
shak if you drink coke most of the day, you might be making the body dehydrated.
Playing with body water system like this is not good.
Not only the kidneys but thirst center in brain goes crazy with that.
Drink water in between. Now that can also be a problem since with coke, not only water gets lost but minerals too. So drinking lots of water with that still does not replenish salt/minerals in the body.
Night time thirst is because of body is just craving the water/salt good balance. Not just water.
Try water with minerals…like gatorade. Or add a little salt to water. Better yet, limit coke, chocolate, coffee, tea etc.
Your observation about headache is correct, since dehydration with salt loss can cause bad headache.
Ask those who drink large amount of alcohol, they call it ‘hangover’ next day and try to treat it with aspirin.
And yes I do drink Coke a lot, not good, should cut it out!
Yeah drinking too much Coke is not good for you. Like someone mentioned above, you probably get the headaches during the night because you're dehydrated. Cut down on your Coke intake and drink more water during the day instead...then see whether your headaches improve.
Nop its been cold(er) all year except the last few weeks or so!
I shall try, do you know why I drink more Coke?
Because I have coke in my room and if I eat in my room and I have water I dont have to go downstairs to get it if it finishes as I have my coke bottle right next to me
