Re: Watching Swat
How the hell can it be reported when most of the journalists are either behind bars or too scared to come out and report a story? Have you noticed how few stories are in Jang newspaper these days? Every day, I MAYBE get one small blurb of what's going on.
Hence the purpose of this thread for people who might have family or friends that can provide more detail.
So, uh, lets stick to the topic , shall we? Unless you know people in the area that are reporting that life is now roses that they're not Pakistanis anymore, and are now Talibanistanis, then please run along and play in other threads.
awww...missing spicy stories in the newspapers? well whose fault is it that journalists are in jail or too afraid to report on the ongoing events? must be talebans bcos mushy does not have any sweeping powers to arrest journalists or to keep them away from hot spots in swat / FATA etc.
as for friends and families providing credible info, well we know how 100s of kuwaiti babies were ripped out of incubators and killed by iraqi solders during first gulf war, courtesy of the then kuwaiti ambassador's daughter in USA.
last bit...sure they have every right to be anything they want since current pakistani government and of the pasts along with awam never took their problems and troubles seriously. they've been storing their anger for decades which is finally coming out. i've said is b4 that for most pakistanis, punjab and sindh are the only real provinces. from public to governments, they have always treated balochistan and sarhad as step provinces. never gave them any meaningful resources or fund to develop nor really tried any measure to make them develop. they were allowed to live a desperate and depressed live under the rules of tribes and jirgas and corrupt politicians who were friends of government. no wonder these provinces have no law n order to speak of bcos pakistani government was never serious enough to help them. desperation leads to desperate measures and now both provinces are under threat bcos of incompetent current and past governments, their neglegence and personal interests. as for awam...even today majority of them don't care whts going on in these parts of pakistan as you urself said they are too busy trying to live their lives and trying to go through everyday struggle. if they don't have time to care about their surroundings then who gives a hoot about whts going on in areas thousands of miles away from them.
