Wastage of Food

I missed the conversation.

Re: Wastage of Food

we are now at point to chose from two options:

  1. go for extra food and serve leftover to poor
  2. plan for proper quantity of food, and arrange for the ration for the poor ( for more than one time / day)

Re: Wastage of Food

I get your point. We should take care of that part. But out of a 100 people we might be able to get maybe 20 to care about the intent part.
But atleast 60 might be willing to give up the leftover food for charity.
If my purpose is feeding the poor , I have to find all possible ways.

Re: Wastage of Food

You are talking from an individuals point of view. But im talking abt collectively thinking of ways to feed poor utilizing the bad habits of the society.
We arent on the same page.

Re: Wastage of Food

you are right, its difficult to convey such points to society which prefer show-off over other things.

Re: Wastage of Food

why can't we collectively think for an option which on one hand doesn't hurt self respect of poor and on other hand providing food for more than one time as in case of left over food.

It definitely should be pre-planned, i feel those are irresponsible people who do not plan for these big occassions.

Which poor people are you referring? The one who works in our homes? The one who wander on roads? Can you tell me an easy way to identify these needy? Because those who works at home get their meals from there and i have seen many poor people eating bunkabab from stalls.

I don't have a problem with having more than one dish in a wedding if it's not a show off or doesn't count in asraaf.

Re: Wastage of Food

If someone search for needy, he/she can identify that in surroundings. may be distant relatives and neighbors.

Re: Wastage of Food

What about chosing a place which charge Rs 500 per person and place which charges Rs 1500 per person?

Re: Wastage of Food

Increasing awareness among the masses regarding charity ?

Re: Wastage of Food

I'm just trying to clarify my concepts

Nah it’s difficult to find such people in big cities and i don’t even see one in my surroundings.

Even the girl who comes at our home asks me baji aj instant noodles khany ka dil kr raha. I know they have heart too for these little things and i initially gave her money for that. When she started demanding frequently i discouraged it and later found out that she buy mineral water bottles and noodles out of her own salary. I didn’t like the fact that even the poor with monthly low wages don’t save their money for rainy days.

In villages maybe we can find these needy people easily.

A big No for me like i said as far as it is not show off or asraaf.

Re: Wastage of Food

There are organisations like Edhi / Silani who feed the needy one everyday. One can collaborate with them, if unable to find needy ones in surroundings.

PS: Your mentioning of the poor again proves that when there are inequalities in societies, poor people try to copy those who can afford such things instead of saving money for their ultimate needs.

Re: Wastage of Food

A billionaire would opt for what he can afford and a middle class would opt for wht he can afford.
Its not logical to say that both of them should get it done within Rs 500.

Re: Wastage of Food

People give their zakat's and sadkas to these charities don't they?

Do you think this is just because of inequalitites? could be one of the reason but, not the sole reason. Don't forget these people watch weird things on cables, and why do they copy only such things? why do they run away when we ask them to offer namaz or recite Quran? i have tried to convince them a number of times but, they simply don't listen. Why not copy the good things?

Re: Wastage of Food

Here most ppl deal with organisations like you mentioned above as its difficult to find the needy.

Re: Wastage of Food

may be it seems illogical as we got justification for spending as much as we can afford.

Re: Wastage of Food

media is not playing its part to promote simplicity. After all, glamour is a salable commodity
