I'm talking about wastage of food in whatever way.
why people waste food by throwing grains in wedding rasm or by having extra food during walima, etc?
Extra food is just a precaution ...its better to have extra food rather than shortage of it.
But the extra should not be thrown away.
Leftover untouched food shoud be packed properly and given to the poor.
Leftover eaten food can be given to animals on farms instead of the chemicals they are fed.
Not all but yes it's a tradition in some families.I don't know why do they do this.IS this a kindof blessing they try too give the newly wed couple?
The bride leaves home of parents by throwing rice / grains to give indication that her mayka always remain full of grains. Its kind of good wish by the bride to her parents. But if we look at the wedding customs including Jahez and all that, we found that parents got extra burden in form of repayment of loans, etc to fulfill such customs

I don't think its just a precaution. When Government insists on one-dish waleema, people feel that they have been deprived of to celebrate properly. You, me and all of us raise a question after someone return from a daawat. 'Menu main kia kia tha?'

what about one dish in bulk? it is of course a precaution, i have been to weddings where people were staring atempty dishes because food was in such less quantitiy. Weddings should be arranged and planned accordingly, Host must know how many people will be coming.

Done in Muslims too. May be we call it borrowed from Hindu, which is technically wrong. Its technically a rasm which has been carried forward inspite of conversion
