Ok i am a Christian but i have been going to Local Masjid to learn about Islam. So here is my take and what my teacher told me:

-Asking assistance from other than Allah is shirk. I.e, in my religion people worship Jesus and he is not suppose to worshipped just because he was a messeger. Jesus’s duty was to conway God’s message on earth that is all.

But my question to Muslims here is that Prophet Muhammed said in one of his “saying” or “hadeeth” that when you make dua, praise Prophet Muhammed and then ask for whatever from God. So since i am not Muslim, can i praise Jesus as a messenger of God and pray to God that way?
(I will ask this question from my teacher tommorow inshalah but i really wanted to know what do other Muslims think about this?)

Dear pakiQueen, if you can understand urdu I have posted enough material from which you can understand islam better than any molvi sb in the masjid unless that sb is highly thinking person himself. People just answer questions by reading books of their ancestors. This happens not only with muslims but also with all of us human beings till we make our own effort to understand things.

If you do not understand urdu please see my posts in english, you will have to search them out because they are scattered all over. Don’t accept what I say, look for rules for understanding things and see what makes sense and what does not the way it is supposed to be put together. a thing is only good if it works, if it does not then see why it does not. In case of divine message it is always highly likely that someone has shown his human nature ie one has explained it wrongly and if you can explain it rightly then you have done your home work.
