If ZAB had not much to do with the 1971 debacle, then how leading Generals like Tikka Khan became such close PPP stalwarts?

Tikka Khan served throughout the ZAB administration first as COAS, then Defence Minister, and later as PPP Secretary General after Zia overthrew the govenment. Benazir appointed Tikka as Governor of Punjab as well.

I guess that tells u something abt this guy.
ur analysis is so innocent :) ur talking as there was some constitution placed and after elections a party was to assume power! those elections were held to formulate the way future of Pakistan would take place after the bloody war..
ever heard about 6 points of Mujeeb first floated in 1966.. if u need i can put them here for u to read...Mujeeb won election solely on promise to implement after assumimg power meaning civil war.. 6th point was the one that wasnt resolved between govt, PPP and Mujeeb " A militia or paramilitary force must be created in East Pakistan, which at present has no defense of it own. "
Mujeeb refused to compromise on that issue. The Peoples Party along with all parties in the West maintained that the Six Points Program did not really permit a genuine federation.
It wasnt Bhutto alone but wholewest pakistan who didnt wanted that scenerio.. Bhutto assumed power after the debacle and picked the pieces in a great way :k .. East Pakistan we lost long ago.. I wish Pakistan from start had gone for a federation in 1947 rather than trying to control with force the bengalis..

I would’ve argued with another point but this point was very valid. Maybe you are too narrow-minded or quota system PPPian to look at its validness!
In 1965, bangladesh didn’t have much of a defence. That’s another story that India didn’t really attack E. Pakistan as it had its own motives (not to “sour” indian plans of a “friend” to e. pakistanis!).
You see that even yahya ordered raising of bengali battalions (too late by then as the nontransfer of power led them to rebel and switch to mukti bahini).
The reason for the army was that it wanted to maintain a punjabi and pashtun periphery hold on the institution. Bengalis were called feminine races and there defence laid in the “rest of india” which after 47 meant W. Pakistan → very invalid for a country split 1000 miles apart!
I guess all the “martial theory” also had a political background = to make the punjabis / pathans that went and fought for the british raj feel “special” that they were used to fight the wars for the Raj!
It is downright shameful that back then or even now, Pakistan hasn’t mentally become independent yet!

yup innocent enuff to say a person trumpeting the Democracy should lead a role quite the opposite of his words. (a typical wadera approach)
as said by someone just one NUKE and he torpedoed the whole economy with Nationalization.
he broke up pakistan into half just to have rule in ur hands. (it was the military mentality also to be blamed for this breakup as they never thought of the bengalis as human beings)
his post 71 role isn’t too impressive either (and it goes for almost all govts as well)the creation of FSF the harassment of opposition figures , the torture
and that too in the name of democracy
and mst of all his slogan of ‘Roti Kapra aur makan’ was nothing but fake.
just get the stats for all PPP eras and u will know wat they are and wat they do the best.

OK! So by this Yahya was responsible that he allowed Mujjeb under that manifesto ......but if Zab was not involved anywhere in it......why Mehmmod ur Rehman commision Report was not published ? why Zab destroyed it ? How was that benifit to him or Pakistan?

Accepted .......But y ZAB didnt go to Dhakka .....when Mujjeb called for ?in Assembly? n y he forced his MNA's also to not go there ? otherwise ZAB will break their legs ? n was here a genuine effort from ZAB side to resolve six points program......if yes how much flexibility he showed ....xplain?

ZAB's time we saw the most political stablity in our country.
But at the same time, the economic havoc of Pakistan started
by his economic policies.
If we had maintained the policies and reforms that were intrroduced during
Ayub's period, Pakistan would've been FAR ahead of countrties like Koreans, Hong Kong, India and Malaysia.
