I am not sure if Quaid e azam wanted Pakistan to be a secular country or not, as he only stayed alive for a few months after the independence. All the slogans like “Pakistan ka matlab kya La illaha illah” and “Muslim hay to Muslim League main aa” point to some other direction. Having said he certainly wanted the minorities in the country to have equal rights, but with each passing day the intolerance in the country has increased. First half of the history is marred by instability in Balochistan, Bangladesh and later part Afghanistan war, WOT and Balochistan again which has only served to increase the intolerance.

Ali, as earlier said by someone that being secular doesn’t have specified boundaries. Quaid may be secular to the extent of giving minorities their rights, but he was not secular to the extent of inter-marriages as evident from Dina-Vadia marriage episode.
