Considering that he starts if off by saying “NO matter what one says” only indicates that he has made up his mind and therefore you can’t have a “discussion” with him (and that’s what he is scolding you to do)…that anything you say will warrant a smacking the forehead emoticon from him…or worse (the winking one)…and he won’t be open to discussing technique because he won’t consider it anything unique or out of the ordinary…and if he responds in a condescending and smug manner to you …and you respond to his condescension…then your response will be seen by him as lack of civility. Mind you, he sees his own mocking tone/condescension…as decent behavior. It’s pointless.
