I totally agree with you, the personal attacks are growing and need to be stopped.

Just a suggestion achaa!!!
Since there is an escalating demand for verbal mugging/abuse/etc... thou, it may be immoral but that doesn't make it technically illegal as the Admin has phrased it... nor does it cause any person psychological harm as such...
so why not come up with a special subsection where such people could come over and spit out as much nonsense as they wish without enterfereing with other people's respect of conversation...
This would in effect make the GS enviroment more 'natural' to the human-animal... and less virutal... thus enhansing its authensity and wide range of diveristy...
If GS can foster an exclusive poetry section.... to exclusively target the poetry loving members, if it can house a sports section to attract the sport's fans... then surely it can also include a section where mems can log on and spit their 'pan' with liberty... yet with with some regulation, limit, parameter, and being within a sphere of brief rules (ie NOT taking the mickey out of a person's religion or country etc)...
In effect, this subsection would become something like the BigBrother programme... where ppl could obsereve...
Thou the idea might sound absurd... but it can be justified with the fact that those peopel/mems who enter this immenent subsection are in fact doing so with their own will, technically conceting to enter. So there is no question fo complaint, etc.
It's just a humble suggestion.... so please those of u who have read all the way thru... don't freek out!
