What are you favorite war movies? Some of my personal favorites are;
Platoon
The Longest Day
A Bridge Too Far
Full Metal Jacket
Apocolypse Now
Stalingrad
Enemy At the Gates
Saving Private Ryan (Not really my favorite. I just loved the opening scene. Very well done. Wasn’t too crazy about the rest of the film)
William Wallace: Aye, fight and you may die, run, and you’ll live…at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin’ to trade all of that from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take away our lives, but they’ll never take our freeeedoooomm!

Not what is going on now ... dropping bombs on people from the skies and calling that a war!

Well, if it's not one sided, in other words both sides have the ability to drop bombs from the sky, it's pretty much a war. I see your point though, I also find launching a cruise missile from 1500 miles away quite cowardly.

The Game Responds:
*Damn straight! That opening scene still makes me shiver. The rest of the film probably concentrated more on human element than combat; a reason why you might not be crazy about it. It was still great story telling; can't take that away from Spielberg. People, That Is All.*

From your list I liked "A bridge too far" and "Apocolypse Now".
Others I liked were "Tora Tora Tora" and "Where Eagles Dare".
Fret, If you havent seen "Where Eagles Dare" starring Clint Eastwood and Richard Burton (WWII espionage thriller). I highly recommend it. First time I saw it with my dad at a military base in Pakistan. :D
