you know something... when I was little I used to read Iqbal's poems and understood Zilch! ... The only reason I used to read his poems was because of the rythm I used to like in it... asking people how to pronounce certain words and what they mean.. yeah may be Lab pe aati hai dua, Jugnu, Makhi aur MakRa and the likes of poems for children were easy.. but sher like
Aye Taa'ir-e-Laa hooti uss rizq saY maut achi
jiss rizq saY aati ho pervaaz maiN kotaahi
were never understood.... I just kept reading them... I started understanding the depth of the meanings as I grew up and learnt things, got experience in life, observe the world... read read and read more.... and you know what? I am still learning and do not know a lot of hidden treasures in his poetry but I continue to strive to understand... research .. find out the meanings of words.. find out the metaphorical gestures in his diction.....
That's how we learn... My poem means nothing probably... but perhaps, one day you will know the true meaning... :)
I can't explain something in simple prose which I decorated in verses.... I won't be able to ...! Just that it talks about the sadness and lonliness in life at one hand but also gives hopes of betterment in the very darkness of that lonliness too..

waysay bee shair ko agar explain kai jahay tu woh shaair nahee rahtah . kuch or hee banjahtah hai , aaagarr lafzz sun.nay yea parnaay walay kay dil ko choo kay mahfooz bayan na karsakain tu yea tu shair ka raang kacha hota hai yea sunnay , parnay walay ka zoooaq !
patah nahii , Mushah.erooon mein kaysay ek shair ba.yak waqt sab ki samj ajatah hai !

itni mushkil naheeN hai... time ho saktaa hai itnaa door naa ho.. read it 10-15 times while keeping the meanings of difficult words in mind... try to relate the objects like "taa'ir", "ashjaar (trees)", "kokab-e-seh'r" etc. to the human beings ;) you may understand it now too :P I am not that good in creating poems like the great poets:D
