The daily jang today reports in its sports headline quote very dependable sources saying that PCB has completed its initial work on this issue and Waqar will return from Sydney in couple of days.
let hope that things go well for Pakistan Cricket team in days to come.
Waqar Younis as bowling coach
Just read on Jang newspaper that Salim Altaf the director of PCB has already talked to Waqar in Austrailia about this assignment/contract and he agreed to serve the country in the much needed area of grooming the new lot of pacers and correcting the Extras problem of current squad. Waqar will join the team in the camp for Indian tour and will accompany the team on the tour.
He will work with Shoaib and Sami on their line and length and will groom Rana, Rao and Khalil further with the secrets of trade.
PCB has decided to consult Wasim, Waqar and Imran to improve the level of cricket in the country. Wasim has agreed to take on the PCB academy responsiblities.
I think if this is true, PCB finally has realised the right use of our two greats of near past. Instead of doing commentary for foreign channels they will be doing the best job for their country since their retirment: Grooming the new talent.

PCB's only good at hiring and firing coaches and other such people. Otherwise PCB and Pakistan team are both quite horrible when it comes to consistency.

Lets see when the whole thing is formally finalized and announced, and we start seeing tangible results. Involving a high-profile former player to work with our team may sound absolutely wonderful, but the whole process has to be managed carefully. These superstar players have egos larger than most mortals.

Wasim would have been a better choice. Anyway, Waqar should be ideal for shmucks like Sami and Shabbir who can’t stop throwing pies. I don’t think Shoaib needs any coaching, as people have been suggesting

Bowling is the least of our worries. Isn't it the batting that we should be spending all the money on?

No, because we have Inzi the Mughal Warrior . Seriously, we have Test quality batsmen like Taufeeq, Hameed, Butt etc. We are in need of strike bowlers like the ones we had during the 90’s. Hard to achieve, but we can try. I miss the test match attack of Wasim, Waqar, Mushtaq, and Saqlain :(.

well saeed was indeed batsman of his own class but he really lack the strategic mind very similar to Inzi.
and how can some one who himself was habitual of edgeing the balls to keeper and slips coach youngster to not to do this !

Finally a smart choice by PCB and yes a seprate Batting as well as a fielding coach would not be such a bad idea either.
If I remember correctly during the 2003 WC India had a trial run with 4 operational captains, Ganguly was the Master (on the field) but off the field and during training and practice there were 3 seperate sub captains for Bowling, Batting and Fielding.

For Batting Miandad/Saeed Anwar
For Fielding PCB might have to look at outside help.

Well PCB is willing Waqar to start this tour, but I think he cant make any difference to our alrady ruined bowlers. It will require terrible time before he is able to deliver the goods and transform our bowlers to something usefull.
and some one right said that SHoabi doenst need any coaching,, he needs a doctor who can just stich his lips together.

As much as I am in favor of Waqar's appointment as bowling coach I fear it might bring some divide in the camp... esp if and when Akhtar makes a come back. I'm sure Rao and Rana can definitely learn a lot from him, I hope Sami learns as well (he definitely needs a smack on his head before learning anything).
