Depends, and varies family to family. Sometimes its the grave of a grand parent or a parent. Its used as an occassion to remember those close members of the family who have departed or who would have rejoiced at this marriage had they been alive. Some times it can be a spiritual personality. Some other families absolutely abhor such customs and will never take a newly-wed couple to a grave or a grave-yard, or atleast will not want a female to visit a grave-yard.
hmmm…I thought it’s haram for Women to go to graves or grave-yards!

bird brain i dun knwo weather its haraam or not.. but i heard some ppl says that when women goes near the grave yard its wrong women should go near the grave yard cuz the ppl who are dead when they see them they see the naked women . plzz guys no offence koi daaate nahi mujhe may be for u its sound stupid or wrong but thats wat i heard from some one… and i never go to pray fatiha to any grave not because of the above reason its because my parents simple told me not to…
