Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

Come on, it's obvious that having the PPP and PML-N in power means he will probably get impeached and perhaps convicted for treason for abrogating the constitution and thrown in jail.

If he just wanted to save his skin, wouldn't he rather deny them a 2/3 majority? Sure the oppositions would have rallies, but that's nothing new! Again, if he just cared for himself, why would he care if there were rallies or instability, as long as he was still on his kursi? Therefore your argument does not hold water.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

Yes my argument does hold water and much more because you forgot the little issue of Aid coming in. And the whole world was watching this election.

He didn't care about others but himself, that's why a day before the verdict on his ineligibility for Presidency, he just realizes that Justices are corrupt.

When the people voice their opposition to it, they are put in jails, mind you without any basis.

When they are released, they are told to stay home and not make a big fuss about it.

And the list just goes on and on and on...

Yes he spoke good English and did good things for the nation, but along with the positives came alotttttta negatives. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives, hence the situation you have now.

Oh and i'll add this: Because i do respect him for this, He saved Pakistan from being bombarded following 9/11. Well delayed it anyways....now we're being bombarded from the inside rather than from up above!

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

i agree with ASN. he could've rigged it, but he didnt. in our world thats a cause of celebration, fact that someone didnt break the law when he had the ability and motive :)

that said, its commendable that he resisted the natural impulse of a dictator.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

I'm glad you see that LockJaw; all I'm saying we should give credit where credit is due.

and teggy, if we take your point about locking people up, why could he not have done that again? Or let's say he rigs them to give PML-Q just above the 1/3 needed to deny a joint 2/3 opposition majority, and then clamp down hard on protests and perhaps declare emergency again? Or if he is so evil, maybe even orchestrate a fake terrorist incident to show that there needs to be emergency. You see, if he wanted to cling to power, there are many ways to do it and they are at his disposal.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

He being the one who had been a chalti phirti misaal of national treason by violating the constitution of 1973 and sticking to two government offices at the same time for no less than 7 years, if im not wrong. I do wonder how come he became an insan ka bacha this time and resisted that evil inside him. That is something really confusing. I hope there is no storm underlying in the bottom of this silence.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

ASN, i gave the man credit where it is due. He delayed Pakistan's destruction.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

Or maybe its simply that he has made riches enough to protect his seven generations and is finally sick now of that false hope and self delusion that he is the saviour of Pakistan and that there isnt nothing much left for him to loot.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

i think he has a messianic democratic dictator complex, where he feels he needs to lead the country to the light of democracy and good governance. At the core, I dont believe that he had bad intentions, there is no evidence of significant embezzling by him personally. He just had a delusion of grandeur, based partly on the crop of leaders we have.

Im sure he felt that under free and fair elections the people would back him.

Its a shame hes an army man, and theres nobody like him in the actual political parties. He would be a capable political leader.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

^Now that's more like it.

He was indeed surrounded by the corrupts of all times who just changed name tags and colors. That's about it.

Like i said way way before, he was good when he came to power (Althought coups are not an attractive thing to have happen), but overtime his vision and to some extent, actions and plans got clouded.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

mirage, I think Musharraf is just what you see. Nothing is hidden. He's a tough military man who had a vision for Pakistan. Unfortunately because of 9/11 and its repercussions that were out of his control he was not able to fulfill it, and now he didn't want to see 10% and Ganja derail what he had laid the groundwork for and he saw it all falling apart.

You're right LockJaw, the man has good intentions and Pakistan's best interests at heart. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Zardari or Nawaz Sharif, and that's the crux of the problem! Time to see things practically!

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

So that's the latest excuse for Mush's NINE years of corrupt failure??

The people of Pakistan obviously think he is worse than Sharif, or any predecessor.

It is not up to you to say all these millions are 'idiots', and only u are right.

Consider the fact they know more about the situation than you.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

Without 9/11 musharraf would have continued his support to taleban who would have continued with their agenda in pakistan.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

I think practically, people from a certain class will always be in power. If it isnt Zardari and Nawaz Sharif it will be the Chaudries.

I have a laissez faire view of pakistani politics. one person cant force good governance on the country, sooner or later one has to add the powerful into your camp, and then you're just selecting from the same pool of leaders you despise.

If we get bad leaders as a result of democracy, thats what we deserve.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

I agree with you 100%, spot on!

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

What i see of him is a man obsessed with power. I do not see any other reason else this making him stuck to that stinking uniform for 8 years inspite of a demand nationwide. I dont mind ppl seeing him as a fallen angel or an innocent criminal. Everyone have their own visions. But to me, he is only a typical dictator. No good than Gen Yahya Or Zia as we had, and whose blessings we are analysing and enjoying now.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

Especially for a military leader, I think he has shown much more patience than any of our previous leaders. Nawaz would never have allowed private media to prop up and give dissenting views. Yes, I agree, Musharraf backtracked on the extent of free media in the past few months, that is a valid point. But to say that his track record on the media, for instance, is no better than Zia is a gross misstatement.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

I hope you understand I am in no way saying he is an angel or a savior; but the man doesn't get credit for what he has done.

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

Sir, we are able to assay Zia’s legacy now, when its around 20 years he kicked the bucket. So will it take to count the goods Mush is leaving. its only when the dust is settled, the vision becomes clear. Thanks to the Media anyway. Our political vision is not that blurred anymore :k:

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

LOL, I think seeing media figures getting flocked in public and having continuous martial law made it very clear during Zia's rule of what he was. It's funny that you are trying to morph Musharraf into Zia. Thanks for the comic relief mirage. :)

Re: Wake Up Pakistan! Where are we heading?

do you even think Altaf hussain cares about urdu speakers?
if that is so then he would have never passed such statements that “we are agree to talk to PML-n and PPPP”

to them awam is either “0” or “1”…“Politics”

back to the original post.

i am not happy at all about Mr. 10% being power.
but still i am happy PML-q is not that strong anymore. :D*
