For me, the appeal of dramas is pretty dead now, not because of the skin I'm seeing, but because the creativity and art is practically gone. So, what do I do? I don't watch. I have friends and relatives who have subscribed to it, so I'll see stuff when I'm over their houses. But otherwise, I don't have a subscription. I'd rather spend that money on a good netflix subscription.
^ Exactly. I think subscribtion to desi channels is such a waste. Pakistani dramas used to be the best with good griping sory lines and strong acting. Now I guess producers invset money in all the pomp and show and neglect the very main ingredient of any production, a strong script.
i totally agree with author that there is lot more vulgarity in our dramas. for all those people who say we should stop watching these dramas i want to tell them this is not the solution.
when young girls see on tv that it is ok to have boyfriend and they see boys and girls meeting frequently at hotels , they think that they will find their soulmate like this also. but frankly tell me how many boys marry these girls. they do friendship just for fun.
tv is supposed to be family entertainment but even the commercials we are seeing we cannot watch with our family.
in dramas girl's body is exposed to sell dramas.
this is absolute degradation of women.
in islam status of women is such that she should be respected and not used for commercial purposes.
Re: Vulgarity in Dramas
Well, what I noticed when I visited Pakistan is that the super super super high, upper class and parts of the lower class seem to confuse being "modern" with being vulgar. If you wanna be "modern" then give women the respect they deserve in the workforce, allow her to go outside in public without being hounded by men, get a higher education and do something for the country. Drinking alcohol, engaging in adultery/fornication, and other behuda harkaathain aren't gonna help you win the respect of the "western" world and these things aren't gonna help make Pakistan more "modern" either. And the decay of the movie/tv industry in Pakistan is a sign that vulgarity does not equate to being successful. Sure, sex sells, but for who? I sure as hell don't enjoy watching stuff like that. If it comes to choosing between one of the ridiculously "indian-fied" dramas on today and watching an old classic like "zaib un nisa" I'd choose the latter. At least there's a story line.
yes so would i..:k:

you're right . there are a lot of jahil pakistani who think by blindly imitating the west they would become like them but actualy they're only following their bad points which won't lead them anywhere. if we want to become successful then we don't need to follow the west. we just need to follow our religion because whatever ethics and morals the west has learnt are all borrowed from islam. punctuality, honesty, sincerety, hard work et all they're all taught by our religion.
whereas our tv channels are concerned, they're in a sorry state. totally unrealistic storylines.they have no pakistaniat . no creativity.it seems some unimaginative corrupt mind has written or directed them. I feel embarrassed to even sit and watch them. There should be strict guidelines laid down for these present crop of tv channels just like PTV used to have. Otherwise, considering how frivolous these people are , they would corrupt our society.thats what they're doing now. I mean not everybody is sensible enough to differentiate between good and bad. there are loads of confused people who might get influenced by them. can't believe how irresponsible our tv channels are .no conscience whatsoever.
Re: Vulgarity in Dramas
About PTV........ some weeks ago, i just tuned to PTV to watch what drama is showning...... i dont know the name, but Savera Nadeem and Shabbir Jaan was in the scene.... Savera were sitting in Shabbir's office & holding a Magazine.... & the Magazine name was " Sex & ****" , i can't Remember the 2nd word. i was like...... What the Hell is shown on PTV?!
aaj kal PTV per bhi sleeveless, modren dresses dekhaye jatey hain. Sahir lodhi ka drama tha PTV per jis me wo apne female co-star ke galay mei hath dal ke Park mein walking kar rahey hotey hain. and PTV was showing that.

Re: Vulgarity in Dramas
shame on all the actors, directors, writers, producers etc who are part of this vulgarity drive. no matter how much we criticize zia's strict policies but I think he was right in doing so. otherwise these people would have corrupted our society within no time.
Re: Vulgarity in Dramas
now new PTV MD is there. The government is thinking to return to orignial PTV policy as before 10 years.
