Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
In fact you do not make a sense in your post. Regardless whether Saeed Anwar was a opener he was a good enough player with whom he could have built the innings around. You telling me that openers were not around or did not last long enough to help Inzi build his innings?
For argument sake, we will take out Saeed Anwar, what about other batsmen he had the opportunity to play with i.e. Saleem Malik, Javed Miandad etc . Are you going to tell me otherwise.
Which players has he got to build his innings now? Muhammed Yousaf and just recently Younis Khan I suppose? It seems to me that you regard the current Pakistani better then previous teams? If that’s the case than it’s a different argument altogether.
You don’t think Steve Waugh is modern great? Making 10,000 Test runs speaks a lot about a batsman. It reveals his ability to perform consistently, handle different situations, cope with the pressure and last the distance. Ten thousand Test runs reflect a batsman's durability, his fitness, his work ethic and this was Steve Waugh. It’s up to you to regard him great or not. Most neutrals will put Waugh miles ahead of Inzi as a cricketer, simple as that.
Yes no doubt Inzi has won plenty of matches for his side and I am denying that fact. Great batsmen also leave records behind to be broken and thus become legends and I suppose you are not aware of them. Can Inzi match individual feats achieved by the current greats such as Lara, Tendulkar and Pontings etc? This is a fact and nothing against Inzi.
Did I state that, don't think so. Read the threads carefully.
