Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
Yes - you may be right but you are talking about Inzis form in Pakistan against the English. This has always been good, but what I am talking about is what can we expect from him when the super stars tour South Africa (away from home).
Do you know what sort of form Inzi has been on their previou tours? If no than I will remind you:
ODI’S in South Africa
Mat I NO Runs HS1 HS2 HS3 Ave 100 50 0
29 27 3 706 116* 63 62 29.41 1 4 3
Tests in South Africa
Mat I NO Runs HS1 HS2 HS3 Ave 100 50 0
5 9 0 247 95 60 32 27.44 0 2 1
Runs Pos Dismissal I *+ R Match (Tests)
19 6 bowled 2 L Only Test v SA in SA 1994/95 at Johannesburg [1283]
95 5 caught wk 4
0 5 bowled 2 D 1st Test v SA in SA 1997/98 at Johannesburg [1400]
6 4 caught wk 2 L 3rd Test v SA in SA 1997/98 at Port Elizabeth [1406
4 3 stumped 4
18 4 caught 2 L 1st Test v SA in SA 2002/03 at Durban [1635]
13 4 caught 3
32 4 caught 2 L 2nd Test v SA in SA 2002/03 at Cape Town [1637]
He will have the opportunity to improve on the above if he doesn’t than he may need more time or experience on grounds such as in South Africa.
By the way - his average against the South Africans on his beloved grounds at home isn’t that great either.
However, best of luck to the the guy as the team will desperately need him to score runs and we will wait and see whether he does that.
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
^ Didn't you say the same aboutYousef, Inzi and Younis before they came to England, how seaming pitches here would have these flat track bullies gasping for air. Well at least Yousef and Younis had the World beating English bowlers running for cover.
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
yes.. you are right Boucher and Kemp are the only ones from SA ...so from PAK side ........still waiting...
I mean we have excellent batsmen that have not only stroke play but are hitters as well. Should I name them? No real reason to as we all know them so well. From the 2 Ys, Malik, Razzy, and not to mention out of form boom boom. So I mean is it too much to say that not a single one of them stuck it out..?
I mean the new comer Arafat tried, and Fridi did a half cameo...
...there is no point to carry this argument on...
We all know that they are capable of much better stuff than this... yes there was no one to lead or set an example at the start or in the middle..I mean my most valued player among batsmen after INZI, Mr. Yousuf, couldn't click either.
If we get our act together we can beat any team in the world.
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
Go through all my statements and read for yourself, never mentioned anything about Yousaf or Inzi as being flat track bully. Did I mention their names specifically ? I don't think so. Only name I mentioned was Younis Khan. He has proved that he isn't a bully at least in England; like Harmison proved you wrong in the test matches.
IN FACT I RATE YOUSAF AS A BATSMAN OF HIGHEST QUALITY AND TECHNICALLY BETTER THAN INZI. YOUSAF IS TREAT TO WATCH WHEN IN FULL FLOW AS HE MAKES THINGS LOOKS SO EASY AND HAS SO MUCH NATURAL FLAIR.
AS FAR AS YOUNIS IS CONCERNED - HE HAS DONE WELL ON ENGLISH CONDITIONS AND IT'S ABOUT TIME HE STARTED DELIVERING AS HE HAS BEEN IN THE SIDE FOR A LONG TIME.
YOU CAN ON TALKING ABOUT ENGLISH BOWLERS, WHAT HAS INZI DONE AGAINST THE real WORLD CHAMPIONS AUSTRALIA & SOUTH AFRICA?
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
In that era, Pakistani team was very bad. They did not have the players who can help carry a team and build partnership. I think if people read and see some of the match highlights they will understand clearly that Inzamam did perform well in those series. Do not go look at stats, they do not mean jack; watch some games from start to finish and you will understand why some players have such statistics.
After '03 WC, everyone predicted Inzamam was done and look what he has done. After Australian tour, people stopped believing in Inzamam and look what he did during the tour of India. Talk all they can but to make 184 in test match like that is impossible. Go compare it players who done it before and tell me how many players can pull an inngs like this in an age, pressure and situation.
Go watch '92 WC match between South Africa and Pakistan, you will see a Legend and his legendary shots in full flow, who can play an inngs like that? You want to see Inzamam in full flow, watch him against England in Pakistan ’05 and tell me who can just ferociously destroy Ashes winning bowlers like that, consistently? Go watch highlights of '92 semi-final and watch who he played against, I think it was once when a player actually took the charm away from Javed. During Javed’s entire career there was no body that could come even close to his batting. You can tally up all the stats, statistics and techniques but when you compare him all of his generation batsmen, he comes at the top....every time and people still think of him as a flat track bully.
He will again prove the maverick critics wrong and they still will not get it.
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
winning against west indes now would not be such a big deal after losing a very important series against england and then a poor showing in india.in both instances pak did not have their main bowlers in the team which i think cost pak.bad luck
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
Harmison who? Look up his recent record, he is the best in the world at bowling 20 ft wides, when he bowls now a days it is not the batsmen who is in any danger, more the leg umpire.
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
You were the one who had mentioned that his performance against the Australians may have been flukey (well this is what you may have meant) but he did repeat to some extent his performance agaainst the mighty Pakistan batting line up in England.
Yes he definetely bowls 20ft wide. I suppose we can similar thing about Rana Naveed Ul Haq who gets hammered these days - a bowler who you regarded 'as a bowler of the highest quality'.
However, at least Harmisson has done it against the best in the World.
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
So basically what you saying is that the Pakistan team at the time you may be talking about was bad which may have had players like Saeed Anway, Aamir Sohail, Wasim Akram & Waqar Younis etc. So that team was weaker than the current jokers?
I have never questioned his ability or series succes against the crappy Indian bowling. So if he had success against them that it’s not a big deal simply because of the weak bowling and famaliar conditions.
I have seen the above innings or matches you are talking about. It’s seem to me that you are making him to be the greatest batsman of his generation and frankly speaking this is not the case as most neutral observers will without doubt agree also.
Inzmam is good but he is not as good as what you are making to to be. Simple as that. So the modern greats such the Steven Waugh, the legend Brian Lara, the little master Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Rahul Dravid etc maynot mean anything to you.
Also you may not have seen the innings by Gibbs in a ODI World record chase against Australia, Lara breaking world test record 2 times etc to name a few.
So how does he come on top? Not even the true legends of cricket i.e. the master blaster Sir Viv Richards, Allan Border & Sunnil Gavaskar to name a few were as as good as the Javed?
Yes we will wait eagerly if he proves the mavericks wrong if he can repeat the success against the best sides in the world away from home consistently.
By the way - below is a photo of your favourite player. May be you will like it:

So you agree that he is on par with Rana. Need I say more. Both of them got dropped in their last matches so I suppose Rana and Harmisson are equals and according to you he is the most destructive bowler the world has ever seen and here we are comparing him with a bowler who is ranked behind Shoaib and asif in Pakistan. Some bowler Harmisson is. Before the Pakistan tour you couldn't bad mouth them enough and were telling us more or less how Pakistan will lose every match by an innings when the great and mighty Harmisson starts bowling. How the Pakistani batsmen will be wiped off the face of this earth when facing the mighty English on the seaming pitches. The reality turned out to be quite something else.
As for him bowling doing it against the best in the world, that year the best in the world were struggling so much that even the mighty BD beat them. That puts Harmisson's performances in perspective. To top it all harmisson and the rest of the worlds most destructive bowling line up will be wasted this winter.
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
Did I ever mention that he was the most destructive bowler the World has ever seen. It will be insult to great bowlers of the past if I ever did. Get your facts right..
Again - did I use these words or exactly meant what you stated above? Do not exagerate and again get your facts right.
Your Worlds greatest bowling line will also be going away this winter and we will see what happens.
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
I am not exaggerating, do a search on your posts before the Pakistani tour and you will see, the facts are there for all to see. I have never claimed that pakistan has the greatest bowling line up and will destroy the opposition's out of sight. I am out of here. Peace.
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
Of course it's exageration, I clearly remember never especially writting or making such statements such as Pakistan will lose every match by innings. If I did than please provide me with a link or quote where I did.
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
For all those runs Yousaf and Younas has scored in last couple of years
It still looks Inevitable that it all comes down to Inzi in the end,If he scores Pakistan wins,if he does not score pak loses, just see it e.g
If u start from the Indian tour last year,1st test match he scored 2 50s pakistan was able to draw the match ,2nd match he failed Pakistan lost,3rd match he scored big runs Pakistan won,
then ODIs series first 2 Matches he did,nt score Pakistan lost,Last 4 matches he scored Pakistan won,
WI tour:1st test he did not played Pakistan lost,2nd test he Scored 100 Pakistan won,
Vs England great Test and ODi Home series Pakistan won both of them,
Vs India good test series Pakistan Won,Bad ODI series Pakistan lost,
SrlLankan tour was probably only exception where Pakitan won without a real big contribution from him,but then again in England 1st test 2 50s Draw, Last 3 tests He failed Pakistan lost all(atleast theoratically),ODI series ,runs scored in 2nd and 3rd ODI Pakistan won, failed in 4th and 5th Pakistan lost
End result Pakistan still needs him and needs him big time.
Another interesting fact about him
His best ever test match :Vs NZ 329 LAhore 2002=Pakistan best ever victory margin (inn. and 324 Runs)
Worst ever match for him :Vs Aus 1&0 Perth 2004=Pakistan worst ever defeat margin
(491 runs)
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
Rock Express, unfortunatly you do not make any sense in your post. When I say those were bad teams it means that he did not have the players to build long inngs. Saeed Anwar use to come as an opener not first or third down. Atleast make an effort to get your argument stright. Your post do not have a single point to counter. According to you Steve Waugh is a modern great, Great I say.
Go check how many matches Lara and Tendulkar have helped their team win games and talk to me. Go check how many times Inzamam have hit a hundered and won games for Pakistan. Now you dicard Indian bowling, well I was talking about the occasion. According to you we can discard Don Bradman and his records because X team had crappy bowling. Great batsmen always make an effort to play and win in pressure situations consistently, that is how they become legends not kids.
Nowadays everybody likes to talk and most of the time when they open their mouths. It is nothing but gibberish.
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
Rock Express, are you always bitter or is it just about Pakistani team?
Pakistan batsmen in general are flat track bullies, their bowling is ordinary except for some good individual performances ocassionally , their fielding is crappy, their captain is dopey. According to you there is not much positive to talk about Pakistan cricket team, then why do you follow Pakistan cricket?
A true Pakistan cricket fan will criticise his teams poor performance but at the same time will realize ther limitations as well, which I have never seen you doing. More importantly, a true fan will be ecstatic by its team good performance, whereas I have only seen sarcastic statements coming from you.
Frankly speaking I am tired of all that therefore may I ask you why there is so much bitterness and hatred? and please don't tell me that there isn't any, because it is not only me but most of the people here who think the same.
Re: VQF numero uno: Pakistan V South Africa @ Mohali
Hello folks,
When Shaibee and Asif were sent back, no one gave Pakistan the slightest chance, same team triumphed against Sri Lanka but as fate wud have it they lost two in a row. It happens, four teams are out of the tournament, Pak included. Sri Lanka, England, India and Pakistan to state the obvious are all good teams yet cud not make it to the next round, are their fans hitting the panic button? No.
As for the Inzi supporters nostalgia, I have two questions: What happened in England, they squared one day series with a much depleted England cricket team, what evidence do we have that things wud have been any different with Inzi at the helm? Frankly speaking, I wud have preferred Inzi to be the captain in competitive situations.
Other question, how long b4 Inzi has to retire? Afterall, everyone has to retire one day or the other, unless he is made Thaa Hayyat Captain of Pak cricket team.
