I think he is also referred to as Sunny Tonio. I understand Sunny as a nickname, but where did this Tonio come from? :s

The current M.A.Jinnah Road in Karachi use to be BUNDAR (Sea Port in Persian) Road from 1912 through 1968. It is mentioned as the longest road in any city of Asian Subcontinent. It starts from Jinnah’s Mazaar and ends at Keamari (Sea Port/Harbor of Karachi) around 22 Km.
***In 1958, the young AHMED RUSHDI caught the ears of Pakistan’s fearless youth and the aged alike…when his melodious voice became the talk of the country. ***

RUSHDI rose to become one of the most profilic and known singer of Pakistan. His songs were majorly picturized on Pakistan’s heart-throb WAHEED MURAD. Of 100% his 95% songs were a thumping success and hit the charts locally.

***On 11 April-1958 (exactly 50 years back), ***
Rushdi after two rehearsals, rendered a song for Radio Pakistan Karachi’s program NAUNEHAL for children—school going children (I was a participant of that program of Sunday and saw Rushdi just like many in States may have seen Elvis Presley..on close range).
Written by Mehdi Zaheer and music composed by Lal Iqbal, Rushdi sang the immortal song depicting a VICTORIA man riding his horse driven cart from BUNDAR ROAD to KEAMARI…describing each and every area or building the Victoria is passing by…including the Radio Pakistan Broadcasting house itself. Its so catchy and memorable for Karachi-ites of my age and as infectious as ever!
I have persuaded GEO to do the video recording of this song under my direction..soon with a famous TV artiste (like Qazi Wajid) as the Victoria man. Wish me luck and meanwhile.. click on below link to hear Rushdi describe his journey;

Meri bacchee…I have been upto my neck with the process of evaluating 1200 headcounts at my domain (Bank) for annual appraisals and promotions…and you cant imagine how difficult this job is…when everybody wants an “A” and promotion…aur sifarishon ki bauchharr hai…and with 2% to be promoted from 1200 headcount at my Region…then how to pick those 25…or 26…is yet another cumbersome and min boggling decision.

SOOOOOO…I didn’t get time to format YOUR Saher’s interview I have already taken besides of Moammar, Nauman Ejaz, Sawera, Zee Q., Zeba Bakhtiar, Nausheen Ali Sardar, Sushmita Sen, Saif Ali Khan, Faakhir, Jawwad and Atif Aslam.

Thorra sabr…ye subb Dubai se wapis aa karr hoga…aur promotions finalize kar k…by 23 April.
