I have been through a bad time all last week to see a depigmented patch on my 4 yr old son’s hand:
(dont bother his nails part..he is into nail-biting all day despite all my efforts to stop him from that)
and I noticed two more patches, not as well defined as these though, on his chest, one two days back and a new one today.I went to a dermatologist last week and she told it is vitiligo and prescribed a light steroid ointment. I am in a fix because I know the course and that it is unpredictable in course and outcome..but I have heard that different people have different experiences with the treatment which is mostly homeopathic? Has anyone had any experience or heard of any? I will truly appreciate knowing that. I am really upset about it Maybe there is a way to limit the spread ?
Proto, I've heard that back in India, many patients are succesfully treated with homeopathic treatment. I think the thing is to treat is early to stop the spread. There's also a lot of research being done in the area and more and more treatments are coming out.
I suggest you get another opinion.
Please don't worry and have faith. I know it's easier said than done for I'm a mother myself.
thanks a lot niksik. I really appreciate your feedback I was just looking forward to first hand experience coming from others. I am so obsessed and desperate about it overnight that I ended up asking a guy at bank who had the marks around his lips and a lady beggar who had spots all over face and neck about any treatment that they might have tried and it worked
yes......my brother has this condition and unfortunately no treatment worked for him.......but he also suffered some serious electrical burns which complicated his situation.
in any event, I've also heard that homeopathic treatment can stop the spread if caught early.
seek a reputable homeopath and be very strict about following the advice that he/she gives you.....iA you will have caught it in time.
Sorry dont have any information to add.....but will remember your son in my prayers Insha Allah. May Allah SWT keep him in His Protection and help you find a cure, Ameen hugs
proto one of my parent has been recently diagnosed with vitiligo . it's not painful physicaly but definately painful emotionally. My parent is the first in family to get this disease. We have since consulted many doctors and people who have this disease. A lady (our aquintance) who has this condition said that her disease increased after homeo treatment. my parent has been applying that specially made ointment and it seems to be working well. The marks have lightened . The ointment/cream has steroids in it. One doctor suggested steriods injections too and we as a family decided not to go for it. So from my personal home experience i would not suggest homeo to u.
an aunty told me that she used kalay chanay for this. soak them in almost quarter glass of water at night and then drink that water nihar moun. do it for almost 5-6 months and now she is perfectly fine.
I agree with others on taking the homoeopathic and herbal route. I will ask my husband's shaykh for any Quranic verses for this disorder.
interesting that you should mention the Quranic verses....
my ammi once had a tiny spot of depigmentation occur on the middle of her thumb......she was told to read some verses and blow on it......I recall that the spot went away.
I don't know if the spot was vitiligo so I can't say for sure......but perhaps Hareem can investigate and get back to us on on this......

I had few little white spots appeared on my feet when I was around 7, I still have them but once my mother started giving me ink of a Quranic verse diluted with water they stopped spreading and till this day they haven't spread any further. Doctors diagnosed them as vitiligo. I had the same white spots on my eyes as well but they vanished completely within months. I remember how my mum used to pray for my eyes whenever she'd look at me, I think it's a miracle, I haven't seen many people with vitiligo getting recovered.

I'm sorry sheyn.....ammi is long gone and I didn't learn the dua. I will do what research I can and report back.
Perhaps hareem can also follow up with the sheikh as she has mentioned.

My little cousin, around 5 yrs old has same problem, started to see white patches around his eyes and then other areas. Dont know if it will spread more or get better... I hope it gets better for your son i'A.

You have a brother and a sister?? Your name sounds familiar
thanks a lot for your advice and prayers. His patch has decreased in size Alhamdulillah.
I went to Dr. Tahir Kamal (dermatologist) in Cavalry ground 10 days back since Raiyan has a new tiny spot on the outer corner of his lips and he prescribed me to apply Vitix Gel after applying cutivate ointment on the depigmented areas twice a day. He also prescribed psoralen treatment where i have to apply the psoralen cream with a tooth-pick on the depigmented areas every alternate day and expose him in the sunlight an hour before the maghrib/dusk. I still have to do this but I am applying the gel+ointment combo regularly and MA MA the marks have reduced.
**I would still like to know about the ayah/duas please because no treatment can be compared to that.

I have given the links to the drugs I was prescribed so that anyone who wants to try using them on a vitiligo patch can have a look.
