Vital Signs memories

I’m listening to their old songs now. WHY can’t we have more bands like these guys? Their music had FEELING to it. It wasn’t typical commercial garbage like what I’m seeing in pop these days!

Re: Vital Signs memories

sahi farmaya. altho shayed ten years on munniCdolliya will be saying the same thing about Jal :-/

Re: Vital Signs memories

We cant have more bands like these because most new bands are generally screwed between pop=rock fusion sort of thing.

Rgarding Vital signs, some of their songs are eternal indeed. PCG, name your favorites.

Re: Vital Signs memories

Namunkin
Dair Ho gayi
Aitebaar
Yeh Shaam - love this one
Ajnabi - pure music
Ham Rahey Rahi
Bichar Kay Jaaney walay
Sanwali (I don’t like Gori :snooty:

I think their unreleased on Ab ho ga Kiya is good - pity they never released it.

Re: Vital Signs memories

Vital Signs, best band in the history of Pakistani music. Period.

Re: Vital Signs memories

I don't know why but I wasn't a big fan of them. I liked only three of their songs. maula, dil dil pakistan, and sanwal.

Re: Vital Signs memories

They weren't everyone's cup of tea. That said, they friggin rocked. Their Hum Tum album is untouchable, and there are more gems in each album than diamonds on Heinlein's Moon.

Re: Vital Signs memories

Vital Signs were one of the best bands Pakistan ever had. And most probably will ever have.

Re: Vital Signs memories

I think it was the way they played their music..It sort of had a soothing effect..brings back a lot of memories for me..then again, most things in the past just seem better.

Re: Vital Signs memories

Nothing is as good as it was in the old days. :bummer:

Re: Vital Signs memories

Nice choice PCG. I think apart from their music, it was Shoaib Mansoor’s magical lyrics that gave these songs the eternal touch. For example Aitebaar was never going to be half this effective had it didnt have such exceptional lyrics.

Re: Vital Signs memories

VS owed alot to Shaoib Mansoor, Saby is right. Back then, they started it all. Junaid, Rohail, Shazi, Salman and Nusrat. However, the music in the VS albums is nothing compared to the fidelity of the music coming out now, but back then we hardly had any worthwhile studios, and theres always the looming spot about alot of VS songs being ripped off from Ub40 etc. Despite the fact that their concerts were not truely live, synthesized drums and keyboards on DAT, they were the only band apart from Junoon who had regular North American tours in the nineties. I got hold of their 90s North American Concerts, and they did know how to rock the crowds. PCG as for commercialism, well alot of people blame VS for bringing commercialism into Pak Music, now I dont like NFP but he did point out that it was VS who brought pepsi into their lyrics and album covers but that doesnt matter, at that time no one cared about commercialism in the first place and had it not been for Pepsi, their albums would have never come out. I wanted to see one last tour of VS especially after that Nazia tribute where Junaid, Rohail, Shazi and Salman resurructed VS for the last time but its all over for the legend in Pak music, Vital Signs. The good thing is Rohail and Shazi are still active and working! They arent quitters and will come out with thier own albums soon!

Re: Vital Signs memories

Interestingly I was listening to Aitebaar coming to work today, and it reminded me of exactly the same thing... VS/Junaid had such a soothing form of music. Their videos used to be fantastic too, especially because they did not copy Hollywood/Bollywood style of fast camera moves, cuts and making weird faces etc .... but a more classic way of telling a story and visually appealing props. A lot of credit goes to SM too.

Re: Vital Signs memories

speaking of shoaib mansoor, what is he upto nowadays. We haven't heard from him since anarkali.

Re: Vital Signs memories

^ Shoaib Mansoor is working on a movie named 'Khuda ke liye' based on the events of 2001 and consequent troubles faced by Muslims.

Re: Vital Signs memories

Re: Vital Signs memories
