Visa applications

What is the exact procedure of applying for a visa for a relative/spouse to come and live with you in a country outside of pakistan?

e.g. to get your wife to come over and live with you in the UK? what documents do you need to provide and what forms does one need to fill out? Where can these forms be obtained from?

Any links to websites will be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Visa applications

www.britainonline.org.pk

i have recently gone through this process for my wife visa.

it depends on your status in UK

if you are national or permanent resident then your wife has to apply for a settelement visa.

if you are on other status work permit, student etc then it willbe dependant visa.

for parents its family visitor category.

settlement visa take about 3-4 months
documents required:
your employement status, letter from employer or accountant if self employed, pay slips, house mortgage statement if on mortgage or rental contract. showing that you have enough big house for her
bank statments
get a registry copy of house can be handy if you own it.

attach a english translated nikkah nama with originals
may want to add couple of wedding photographs

fill the settlement form, bank draft of visa fee, submit to fed ex office in Pakistan.

and then just wait for it. mostly it doesnt require a interview.

for parents or family visitor or any dependant visa its short time for processing 1 - 3 weeks they may call for interview though.

Re: Visa applications

Thanks for the info shakills,

I hear that the partner has to meet/take an examinination to meet specific english requirements, e.g. in speaking and in general knowledge, has this come into place?

So the application can be downloaded but has to be submitted in person?

in the settlment (VAF2) form it doesn't clearly say what documents you need to provide, thanks for making this clear above.

Re: Visa applications

Salam,

There is no examination of an applicant's english competency, this only comes when naturalisation takes place a few years down the line.

The forms do need to be submitted in person, but you normally submit them to the Gerry Fedex office. I think there should be some in most major cities.

Re: Visa applications

they dont accept application in person anymore, all applications has to go through fed ex offices near you.

ukwali is right, english test is may be required when citizenship applied down the line after some years stay in uk.

Re: Visa applications

fed ex offices , is there one in rawalpindi/islamabad?

So the husband doesn’t have to complete any other form? apart from VAF2?

Also, do we have to provide a letter from the employer as well as the payslips? What format does the letter have to be in?

thanks for the help guys. Shak Kills, let me know how it goes for you.

Cheers

Re: Visa applications

Cm, bro, please send me an email as for some reason firstly I can't start new threads here, and neither reply to PM's, I think its something related to Java applets or something, u should be able to email me,,, will advise over email - thanks.

Re: Visa applications

ok CM, here it goes,

basically complete the application form, ensure all questions are answered correctly - u'll need the following documents as evidence to show you will be able to support your spouse:

  • Minimum 6months bank statements (recent) - ensure that you do NOT start to overload your bank with monies at the last minute - very suspicious this would be.

  • minimum 6months wage slips

  • P65 (or is it a P60?) end of year Tax document

Visa application/sponsor letter - normally completed and attested by a Notary of Public - Solicitor should be able to do this, and shouldn't cost more than about £30pounds

¨Pay Slips - 6month wage slips from X company , covering X period.

¨Bank Statements – Current account statements , also savings account statement covering X period

¨P60 Tax Form – For the last tax year –

¨Letter from employer – Confirming current status of employment

¨Property Deeds and letter from solicitor to confirm purchase of property

¨Letter Confirming mortgage payments from Mortgage Lender

¨Proof of contact with spouse – Mobile phone bills – Past 6months of mobile bills

¨Engagement pictures -

¨Sponsorship declaration and attested copy of my passport – Attested by Notary of Public

¨Nikaah Nama - Extract of Marriage certificate

¨Pictures from the wedding

  • Letter from an independant housing authority– To confirm sufficient space to acommodate spouse.

Thats about all the list taken from my personal Sponsorship letter - I guess thats about all you need - OH YEH, and an RS32,000 bank draft to pay for the services!!!!!!!!

Take care. - Hope this info helps

Re: Visa applications

^^^ sorry dude - I think i repeated some stuff as i was doing a copy paste from one of my letters - :)

Re: Visa applications

Rather then phone bills, if you use calling cards those will also suffice.

Re: Visa applications

hmm, well i only attached following and she has got visa a week ago now.

  1. bank statements - wasnt full of funds but shows my pay comming in and going.

  2. mortgage statment of house

  3. letter from employer

  4. pay slips - last 6

  5. P60 - end of year tax return form

  6. Translated and attested copy of Nikkah nama from notry public in Pak and forriegn affairs.

  7. A simple letter from myself explaining my status in uk, job, house, will support my spouse. - no attestation required from solicitor

  8. photo copy of all pages of my passport

  9. few pics of wedding.

  10. Registry copy of house from HM Registry (just cost £3 pound online from HM registry service.

NB you dont have to fill any form from yourself. it will be from your Spouse. you will just get mentioned in the form.

some of above applicable in case if you own a house, if renting then rent contract, if living with parents then letter from owner of the house. other about job, if you self employed then no pay slips but accounts statment from your accountant would be enough.

Re: Visa applications

Thank you walaithi Guppy and shak kills.

I think i'll have to delay my marriage for atleast one year then. I'm currently working full time and have been for the past nine months (so have the relevant pay slips). I am thinking of doing a PGCE in September and thought I may be able to apply for the visa in august for when i'm planning the wedding, but the only problem is that they require a letter from the employer explaining the status of employment ... and i'll be leaving in august. although i'll still be getting paid to do the PGCE over the next year...i dont know if they'll accept that.

Re: Visa applications

Why don’t u go to immigration office or their website for the right material or advice according to ur situation.. they will guide u better than us :smack2:

Re: Visa applications

in that case, dont delay your wedding, get nikkah done now and start the visa process. by the time you get married your wife will have visa.
and if you dont supply a letter from employer, thats not a must, your pay slips will still be enough.
so i suggest you dont delay your wedding plans.

Re: Visa applications

all the best coolmund.

I really like the the information regarding visa application for spouse.I am also applying for my spouse. The only thing worries me that from where I can find out the english or translated version of my urdu nikkah nama. Some poeple said there is english version of nikkah nama available and some said there is NO english version only translated version of nikkah nama is available in english.

Please advise me those already got visas of their spouses, from where in pak they got ENGLISH version or translataed version of nikkah nama. What it looks like and what is the proper name of that document. How many pages it contains.

thanks
