Virginity a virtue?

In many cultural contexts, virginity is considered purity of mind, body and soul. People think that if a person who is virgin is civil, obident, family-oriented, down to earth and stable. Societies believe that these people have courage and critical thinking to stay that way and thus rank higher than others who don’t. Many see, who are not virgins, as immoral and unconscientious.

I have several questions to ask.

Do you see viginity as a moral excellence of a person? Do you see it as a character trait? If yes, what kind? Do you use this characteristics as a knife to cut/ divide people in two forms? Last but not least, how high do you rate a person on the level of virginity?

Please stick with the topic. Thanks.

Re: Virginity a virtue?

i dont like virgins, (not joking). i rather not touch a virgin, and then have her remember and curse me for the rest of her life.

persons attitude or trait doesnt change cause they are virgin or not. and the people who think that being a virgin is somehow a moral high ground then a non virgin then they are wrong.

Re: Virginity a virtue?

**Do you see viginity as a moral excellence of a person?
**not moral excellence…but excellent sexual morality:D

** Do you see it as a character trait? If yes, what kind?
**yes i see it as a character trait: to me somsone who is virgin in his (her) mid20s or 30S is a trenous person…cause it takes a lot of courage to keep ones beliefs, and stick to them so long :k:

**Do you use this characteristics as a knife to cut/ divide people in two forms?
NO, **life ain’t that simple…there are many different virgins, and many different nonvirgins…a simple character is a oversimple model…i allways use multiple criteria to model people charcters…and allways look for implementing my model by increasing the number of parameters taken into my virtual human mind model;)

L**ast but not least, how high do you rate a person on the level of virginity?
** i met good virgins and bad ones…so, i can’t rate someone on that basis…i’ll just say, it is a PLUS point…but i know some non virgins, who are more moral than virgins:D

Re: Virginity a virtue?

but persons choosing to be virgin are different than those choosing not to stay virgin: it is a different life perspective, and values...it's not that "loosing" virginity is changing someone...but rather the previous choices :)

Re: Virginity a virtue?

Within the Islamic context, people are not divided into better and worse on the base of virginity, but on the base of their deeds. As long as sexual activity remains within wedlock, non-virgins might even be better in the sight of Allah as compared to virgins because sex within wedlock is promoted by Allah :D

Re: Virginity a virtue?

i forgot to add that i was talking only about singles..never married people:D

of course non virgins marrried people are more moral than virgin married ones:cb:

Re: Virginity a virtue?

:what: thats a news.

Re: Virginity a virtue?

a sad one:(

:stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Virginity a virtue?

here i have something to say
pple can be sexually active but they stay virgins
if that makes sense
there is more u can do with out the full sexual act
does this leave the girl or guy in question a virgin? or somethign else? a half virgin
not having been all the way

Re: Virginity a virtue?

Well said. That is all. It does not define a person or their moral calibre. I know virgins that have no moral code at all. They will backstab, steal etc. etc.

Re: Virginity a virtue?

ur virginity shud not define ur morality
u are stronger for having saved ur virginity for wedlock
but that dus not mean that non-virgins are weak

Re: Virginity a virtue?

Assuming you're talking about someone single who's never been married...

Do you see viginity as a moral excellence of a person?
It doesn't guarantee anything in itself, but the lack thereof shows one area where I would see a person's morality to be lacking or to have been lacking in the past.

Do you see it as a character trait?
Not necessarily as a character trait, but possibly a result of someone's character.

Do you use this characteristics as a knife to cut/ divide people in two forms?
Not that alone. There's more to it.

Last but not least, how high do you rate a person on the level of virginity?
I don't generally judge people like that, but if it was for something like marriage (my own or someone whom I would recommend to) then it is definitely something that I would want to consider.

Re: Virginity a virtue?

First of all, thanks for the response everyone. Things that I have noticed so far.

  • Virginity is not a virtue.

  • Virginity shouldn't be used as a tool to judge people.

  • People who are not virgins aren't necessarily bad.

  • ...but I would like to marry a virgin. Why would you consider a virgin for marriage, when it's not a virtue? Don't you think you are overlooking a better person on grounds of virginity? Danny hates virgins so this question is not for him.

Re: Virginity a virtue?

Re: Virginity a virtue?

HAEHAHEHA :omg: Sooo what do you do ask them if they are virgins? and then decide to be there friends? Like jeez as if its going to be written all over there faces. What if they lie to you? How the heck would you even know?

Weirdos

I dont really care for other people, but it would have made a difference in my decision if my fiance wasn't a virgin.
