Virginia Tech Shooting

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

og do you understand the implications of this story in the mindset of americans???

you picked the wrong person for the agenda continuation during this time of sadness.

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

whatever man. had this been a muslim shooter, you guys and your govt would be busy preparing patriot act 2.0

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

if the US didnt have that constitutional right to bear arms.....people wouldnt be pulling the trigger in the first place. It's no wonder America has such high crime rates!

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

One of the victims was *Waleed Shaalan *. He leaves behind a wife and a son.

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

"the right to bear arms"

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

This is not about Muslims or Guns, it is about Mental Illness, and a very sick young man.

By the way, the last mass shooter we had was John Muhammed, the Beltway sniper. There was no huge outcry against Muslims. It is not always about you.

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

I agree. Mad people do not exist within nice community boundries. We are all potential victims of some nut in the wrong place.

This is a mosterous tragedy and we should all endeavour to show respect and compassion to all the victims and those effected in any way.

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

it is about guns and denying it isnt going to solve anything....no guns=less gun violence..PERIOD!

mental illness if just an excuse people use....what about those that shoot out of anger or rage because someone cut them off on the beltway?

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

Can there be such a list of Iraqis too please? With pictures and small insights into their lives?

Abdul Jarrah, 35, a father of three and a small business owner. He was educated at the prestigious University of Baghdad where he received his degree in mechanical engineering.

His neighbour said Jarrah was always involved in community work and provided great help as a volunteer to the local hospital.

We was murdered by an American sniper bullet while out trying to get food for his family. He is survived by his mother, three children and a wife.

Samina Zaituni, 22, student of Basra College of Fine Arts. An aspiring painter, Samina had won numerous awards for her designs especially in fabric and sculpting.

Engaged, she was to be married to Bassam Adelhai just 5 days after the day she was killed. Friends say she was a very high spirited personality with a kind word for everyone.

She was killed by a Daisy Cutter while getting together at a friend’s house in Basra. Thirty two other people were killed along with her.

And so on and so on and so on a million times…

I am saddened by what happened in Vtech…But the other ones murdered elsewhere besides USA deserve to be known as well…

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

Not the place Lajawab.

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

60 kids die every week in america due to gun shot wounds, 3000 per annum. theres only one reason for this amount of deaths - the availability of guns.

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

Why is there's rant of gun control ONLY AFTER such an incidence. Almost all the criminals use guns purchased illegally, and vast majority of homocides in the US happen by illicit weapons. Now, in this case, he did go through the normal screening process before he picked up ammo and a hand-gun LEGALLY, now how in the world is it possible to judge evil intentions ?

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

This is not about guns. It's about very disturbed, socially maladjusted people who have nothing to lose and no joy in life and living.

Taking away guns or right to bear arms will not help those individuals.

What can be done to extricate these individuals from their misery and make them a happy, well-adjusted member of the society?

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

Ohioguy...
Have to say i agree with Angel Eyes that the right to bear arms is what leads to such massacres...

Fact is in the West and everywhere there are people who face mental problems...thing is they cant legally walk around with a gun...from my understanding there are plenty of compasses where you can enter armed...now explain how this isnt the catalyst for such a disaster...how many of these disasters do you want before you realise that that is the problem...
psychos are everywhere but your laws make it easier for them to follow their desires...hes a screwed up kid who was able to use the system to his advantage...if someone has to take blame it is the state that implements such laws...if they legalised guns in London god knows how many shottings would take place at colleges here...

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

LuxuryItem...
No-one is disputing that guns isnt the only issue...the issue is the person but these kind of people are everywhere but these things dont happen everywhere...

Taking away guns wont help those individuals but it would prevent events like this taking place...

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

How do you mean taking away guns as in complete ban on hand-guns. Honestly, talk is nothing but cheap and especially when it lacks any reality!!

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

Take away cars too. While at it, take away internet, laptops, peanuts. Do you know how many people die from eating peanuts every year?

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

^^ Actually there were 7,379 suicides in the US in 2004. There were 3,758 homicides, and around 43,000 highway deaths and 160,000 deaths from lung cancer. If you really want to save people from themselves, ban cars and cigarettes. Suicide kills twice as many people as guns do.

But of course banning guns allows you to use CAPS and to sound self-righteous.

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

^^ Actually Guns is the most preventable deaths...

So ya, I dont understand America's addiction to Guns...

I have never held a gun, nor am I want to own one, nor am I fascinated with guns.

I detest guns, I think the only thing they do is kill, whether humans or innocent animals..., they are killing machines and thus I abhor them

Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

No, there are 170,000 new cases of lung cancer per year, 87% are smoking related. Prevent even a fraction of these deaths and you have eclipsed gun deaths.

Gun deaths make the news, cancer deaths don't.
