Re: Virat Kohli - A great batsman of modern cricket
Haven't watched tendulkar at his best. No one comes close to Sunil Gavaskar in Tests. As stated earlier, his name was synonymous with the phrase "chanceless century". He often would carry his bat. Without offering a chance. And st times without getting beaten! Gavaskar getting beaten was news.
As opening batsman he was the best player of pace. He was a great Hooker of the ball. But eliminated it for sake of team.
And he was a great player of spin. Using his feet.
Re: Virat Kohli - A great batsman of modern cricket
i am one the biggest fan of zaheer abbas for his artistic batting but he is way overestimated…he never did anything really good when the team wanted him and other than england and pakistan he pretty much failed everywhere else, even on dead indian tracks…he was a master of batting beautifully but he had no tehnique…he had unbelievably flexible wrists and superior hand eye cooridnation.. but he shd not coach our batsmen
by far, our best ever ODI player is Inzi haq…his 20s/30s/40s runss were so helpful in winning us the ODI matches…priceless!
tests..javed has a close tie with hanif mohammad and yousaf youhana but i will go with javed..javed also has a closse tie with inzi for ODIs but inzi wins because he won us so many matches esp batting second
Re: Virat Kohli - A great batsman of modern cricket
IMHO in ODIs: Zaheer (in prime) was better than Inzi (in prime)..
Zaheer was (mentally) weaker than Miandad but one of the best knocks he played under pressure was in the 1979 WC semi-final v the fearsome Windies quartet.
Re: Virat Kohli - A great batsman of modern cricket
i am not doubting for one seocnd…forget inzi..when it comes to artistic batting, no one even comes close to zaheer..grace grace and grace,
ask gavaskar who was the biggest fan of zaheer
all i am saying that inzi has far more impact on Pak ODIs than any other player…he was a great chaser, consolidator and result oriented
Re: Virat Kohli - A great batsman of modern cricket

Absolutely. If Dravid was the Wall, Gavaskar was like The Great Wall of China. So difficult to dislodge. He had some wonderful duels with Imran Khan. IK got him the most times (18) in his career.
However not so good in ODIs. Gavaskar once made 36* as an opener in a 60-over match !!! (if I am not mistaken).
