Virat Kohli - A great batsman of modern cricket

Re: Virat Kohli - A great batsman of modern cricket

Yes. I believe it was the first world cup. 1975? Against England. John Snow derided him mercilessly. An outlier in an otherwise stellar career.

He would always keep his eyes on the ball. Defence - head down. Proper technique. Had all the strokes in the book.

His 36 reminds me of MAK Pataudis tortured 5. Either in Bravourne stadium against Greig Underwood and company in1973. Or against Gibbs Roberts et al at Wankhede stadium in 1975. He kept getting beaten. But couldn’t get out! I had the misfortune of watching the great Pataudi struggle.

Gavaskar and Pat sometimes are known by these 2 innings. But these innings were simply a blip l in a great career.
