Captain i really aint interested in ure poxy theories like how many ODIs he should play! he knows how to smack the ball dats all dat counts u for all you know he could be training really hard for this upcoming tournament u guys are soo quick to judge! i cant believe the amount u read into things! its aint really that complicted he playing end of story whether u like it or not
Afiridi's selection has drawn a lot of criticism.
I agree that he is'nt a great player and his batting expecially is suspect. But because he is a decent bowler and he can field well, he is a usefull One Day Player. Ideally I would like to see him coming in at 6 instead of Yunis Khan, but I'm not sure how usefull Shahid is when there are no fielding restrictions.
Someone mentioned that Razzaq has to bowl well, and really that is what everything comes down to in teh Afridi debate. If Razzaq can bowl half decent, we don't need another all rounder and Afridi can take a seat. If not, then he's in.
Rana Naveed has no place on the team from anything I've seen. I would much rather prefer Azhar as the additional all rounder.
So what about Salman Butt, anythone think he will be given a chance?
I AM REALLY SURPRISED HOW SOME PPL WANNA GIVE AFRIDI AND AZHAR ANOTHER CHANCE, ALTHOUGH I WUD LUV TO SEE EM PLAY UNDER BOB WOOLMER, BUT YOU CANNOT RIGHT OFF RANA, HE HAS HARDLY PLAYED AT ALL AND ITS NOT FAIR TO JUDGE HIM SO EARLY, HE CAN SWING THE BALL AND BATTING IS A BONUS, AND I DONT THINK THESE WILL BE A GOOD SERIES TO TRY SALMAN BUTT, THEY SHOULD ONLY LAUNCH NEW PLAYERS IN HOME SERIES AND PREFERABLY AGAINTS WEEKER SIDES, SHOULD NOT MAKE A GUY PLAY HIS FIRST IN A KNOCK OUT AGAINST AUSTRALIA OR INDIA ............

->I wouldn't mind trying Afridi again as a specialist blower and not as an Opener. Afridi is explosive, aggressive player but he is not an opener he should play @ #6 or #7, before A.Razzaq.
->I don't think we need Azhar, he need to go forward not 2 steps backward, Azhar is getting old, he is not consistent in ODI, we should try younger players like Raiz Afridi, Rana and others.
-> Rana should be given proper chance, we can't judge a player by one or 2 performance/s. I think Rana should be given a chance in up coming events (Video CUP & ICC CUP).
->I would rather see Asim Kamal then Younis Khan, Useless Younis should be sent to Pakistan "A team".
->Yoyo better play good, he should not be selected in the team based on his performance 2-3 years ago, he is been playing worst then some of the younger players, he should play resonsible as a senior player. I hope he picksup his game and show that he can really score.
-- Let's see how chacha Bob incorporate Salman butt & Shahid Afridi in the team....
^
You're right about Youhana. I think its about time he played some meanigfull innings. This is what he has done in the last 10 matches...not very impressive
Mat Runs HS BatAv 100 50 W BB BowlAv 5w Ct St
10 206 73 25.75 0 1 - - - - 2 0
You can't drop world class players like Yoyo. He is going thru a bad patch. He needs to work on his running b/w the wickets and he'll be good to go. I just saw Asim Kamal batting for the first time and I am bedazzled that he has no place in the team whereas Younis khan "vegetarian pathan" is still around. He could be our Dravid for crying out loud.

world class player my a!ss, all pakistani palyer can only perform in sub-continent. They choke in other places, YoYo needs to perform or they need to bring Asim Kamal. PCB should drop usless khan and give more chances to young players like Bazid Khan, Saeed Bin Nazir, Asim Kamal.
^Earthquake bhai. On Woolmers website, somebody asked him why Asim was'nt on the ODI squad yet. He answered that Asim still has a bit of work to do on his fielding. Considering Yunis is a good fielder, I can see that being a reason for Asim's exclusion.
I would'nt drop Youhana because I don't seeus having enough young batting talent to take his spot yet.
As for Taufeeq - the less said the better. The guy is a terrible player and can't perform under pressure. I don't see him playing on the National team.
I don't think that Kamran Akmal is anywhere near ready yet to play on the national team. He has a long way to go especially batting wise. If there is a problem with Moin we may have to recall Rashid Latif, even though I would prefer not too. The only other guy I can think of as a possibilitiy is Humayun Farhat
It doesn’t mater what you call it, Chacha Bob is not calling shots, decisions are made by PCB selectors, and Asim (being 28 years old) probably won’t get a chance. Explain to me¡…if Bob think that Asim Kamal is not a perfect fielder then they should have selected him for A¡¦ team for the tour of Kenya. Naveed Latif is probably worst bowler & Fielder but he is consistently given chances, why PCB reject one player because they feel that he is a weak fielder but select another who is worst then the first one.
There are many talented players in Pakistan but they don’t get a chance because of PCB F-Up polices. Some of these players goto overseas and play for cricket leagues/clubs in (UK) Europe, Australia and Canada. Don’t say that we don’t have talent, we have talent but PCB are not giving chances to player that deserver to be in team, whether it is U-19, U-23, Pakistan A or National team.
We defiantly need aggressive opening pair, Imran farhat is not consistent and Yasir is not comfortable player @ 1 he is good @ #3 or #4 but let¡¦s see how Uncle Bob will change the batting lineup.
„³C’mon what the hell is wrong with PCB, Kamran Akmal is opening with Tufeeq Umer? Both are useless in ODI.
^I agree with you for the most part. The PCB has messed up so much it's sick at times. The other day I was reading about Muhammad Zahid. Bechara has to have one of the most blatant cases of being screwed over I've read. He was one of the fastest bowlers in the world and they totally ruined him by forcing him to bowl long spells in a test match while injured. Apparently some higher ups fealt threatened by Zahids pace possibly threatening the position of more established bowlers.
As for Asim, I agree his time is limited. They have to let him in soon, but if he keeps performing, it will be tough for the selectors to ignore him. But to be fair, batsmen play a bit later in there career, so at 28 he still has good years left. I think he will be on the team sooner rather than later, especially considering there are'nt many options.
I would play the following
Shahid Afridi - this has gotta be his last chance though
Shaoib Malik - probably is stronger in the middle order in the long run
Yasser Hameed - better as a number 3
Inzi
YoYo
Yunis (only because we have no other middle order batsmen selected)
Razzaq
Moin - we might need a replacement soon
Sami
Shaoib
Shabbir - I'd put Umar Gul in as soon as he recovers
^M-Zahid was suppose to be future, I heard he was way better Sam & Shabbir or M-Zahid had a potential to get better but PCB neglected him and now he lost his speed because of his Age.
I would play the following
01 Imran Farhat / Salman Butt
02 Yasser Hameed – (better as a number 3)
03 Shaoib Malik –(probably is stronger in the middle order in the long run)
04 Inzi
05 YoYo
06 Shahid Afridi - Specialist bowler, Should be #6 or #7 in batting line up.
07 Razzaq
08 Moin – (we might need a replacement soon)
09 Sami (Sami is playing pathetic, should be replaced by Umar Gul, if and when he recovers from his back Injury and only if he can perform they way he performed against India)
10 Shaoib Akhtar
11 Shabbir is the team because we didn’t have any aggressive bolwer but Rao is showing sign of maturity. (Shabbir should be replaced by rao iftikars because we need a left-hand attack bowlers for ODI)

Mohammad Zahid got seriuosly injured at his peak and when he came back he was nowhere near his best speedwise or skillwise. He was given chances and couldnt take them. It was unfortunate whatever happened to him but thats life.

I would like to see Afridi on the playing 11 side for another season or so.
We have NOTHING to loose,Chappy has a good eye for cricket ball, let him tose it smack it,let him be in the team, use him as a wild card,If I was the captain,,I would work very closely with the laddy with my 100% backing,The problem is quite simple,Afridi’s game is very open and opposition can easely set a trap for him,and he falls for it too,This is where Mr. Woolmer comes handy,
Can some one plz shed some light on the new names in the side, who are they, and what potential they have, merci :french:
Shahid Afridi - The point of having him is playing him in early order
Yasir Hameed - I wonder how he'll do against Australian bowling
Shoaib Malik - This tournament could launch him
Inzimam Ul Haq
Younis Khan - if collapse send him so he can keep RR with singles
Yousef Youhana - he hasn't stepped up in years.
Abdul Razzaq - He can probably tear up the Aus fast bowler in late inn
Moin Khan
Shoaib Akhter
Mohammad Sami
Shabbs
I want to see how Salman Butt plays too. I don't think he'll get in during India or Australia, they won't put that much pressure on him.

And who said Rao Iftikhar is left handed?
[/QUOTE]
Sorry, I was think about Zahid Saeed & Mohammed Khalil (left Arm fast bowlers)....
From the yongesters I like Rao Iftikhar, Ali Imran Pasha, Mohammed Khalil and Rauf, let's hope PCB give them chance to play in National team.

I have to agree on Youhana, I've had enough of him riding past glories. He either brings some game soon or let him sit and try Faisal Iqbal, Asim Kamal or Misbah Ul Haq. It will be a treat to watch Yassir Hameed playing the Aussies, he has'nt seen them yet.
Earthquake bhai, I noticed you mentioned Ali Imran - that's the same guy from the U-19 team right? I have'nt herad of him since then, anybody know where he is these days?
Also watch out for Riaz Afridi. He bowled ok in Kenya but his batting has been explosive. I think him and Rao Iftikhar could step up to the National tam some time soon.
^^YoYo has to step up and score big; he is hiding behind younger players. He doesn't want to play at #3 which will give him more exposure and chance to score big.. I can understand that he wants to give younger player more chance but he just can't hide and not score and still be in the team.
As far as replacing Younis Khan, out of all those guys you mentioned I like Asim Kamal & Bazid Khan only.. I heard great deal of information about Saeed Bin Nazir, I have never seen him play but heard that he is a solid player and if he is given a chance he can be perfect #3.
Faisal Iqbal: I don't think he is aggressive enough to be in the team, he is not consistence and can't play under pressure that's why I think Asim Kamal or Bazid Khan is the best option.
Misbah: 30 years old, do you think he has a chance to play in National?
I think he deserved be in the team 3 years ago, now at 30 it is less then 20% chance that he will be selected.
Riaz Afridi: Raw talent, he needs time.
Ali Imran Pasha: yes he is u-19, got alot of potential
Rao Iftikhar: I think Rao is ready and if he is given a chance in National team he will surprise alot of people, kid got alot of potential.
We need Variety in our bowling, that's why I think we need a left arm fast bowler like Mohammed Khalil.
