So has anyone seen this video? I did, all 10 minutes, and the content is quite shameful, graphic and disturbing. Also, the language they are using is quite unbecoming of these officers… How is this different from the Talibs flogging people? Shameful stuff…
**
Pakistan’s army has said it needs to examine the video before commenting. **
Whoever in the army made that statement needs to be fired, seriously… poori duniya ney video torture ki dekh li, aur yeh sahib abhi sooch rahey hain kab dekhi jaye gi video…
Re: Video showing Pakistan Army torturing prisoners/suspects
That's condemnable. Pakistan Army should adhere to the Islamic principles of fighting, and give the arrested suspects their obligated rights. Try them in a court of law, and let the law and people decide what they want to do.
Yes, it can get quite frustrating knowing that one of these might be responsible for a great loss of life, but that's no justification for inhumane treatment. If we cheer this, we stand in the same row as Gitmo guards and no different than justifiers of Abu Ghraib abuses.
Being a pashtun, i am very shocked and disturbed at the acts of army in this video. In addition to brutally beating the suspect, they are beating old relatives of him in a manner which made me cry.are These *******s trained to beat very old people?
The young soldiers have no shame in beating whitebeards. These armymen were yelling behnchud constantly in reply to cry for allah help. I dont think army is trained on islamic line.
U people should thank God for blind loyalty of pashtuns to pakistan otherwise terrible things may have happen.
We pakistanis always cry that kafir army of india kill, torture and rapes kashmiri people bt now i understand that all armies of world have same nature. Sorry bt this video remind me that pak army can torture, kill and rape us as it has done in bengal in 1971.
I dont know what to say, our whole pashtun society has been destroyed in pakistan. The most respected members of pashtun society, the whitebeard old people, are humiliated and beaten as in this video. Pakistan first train us for jihadism and extremism and then used us as cannon fodder in afghan-war and now are killing its own creation jihadis/talibans in the name of terrorists and is getting billion of dollers for it.
Re: Video showing Pakistan Army torturing prisoners/suspects
Could this be a staged video. The quality of video is too good to be a "spy" or hidden camera job. The "army" guys are letting the camera through. The soldiers not wearing any badges to show which regiment they belong to.
As much as this can be real it can equally be a staged drama to defame the army.
I think it got deleted, understandably so but th problem is its all over the internet and its not like no one has seen it. The problem is its already online and cant be hidden. I heard its deleted from youtube but the video is now on facebook.
Who uploaded it, recorded it ..big questions.
The video looks bad but we need to see it in the before and after context ie what led to all of this and what happened after this? Whoever videoed it has been selective of what scenes to show.
What if these people being tortured had known the whereabouts of there "taliban" relatives. What if this "soft treatment" had made them confess and probably saved the lives of more people in the long run. Its ok to say they are elderly men but what if these people were actual criminals or had known where these rather dangerous criminals are? Life is not a picnic in the warzone - millions had to flee their homes, a very painful process, much more painful than this 10 minutes.
Admittedly the video looks very pathetic but thats the way it was supposed to be. Whoever posted it did not want to show the army in any positive light. Should people like Muslim Khan have a long trial where time and money is wasted whe their guilt is well known - i think such people should be hanged without delay personally.
This is nothing new - we know the army has been involved in human rights abuses in Bangaldesh, Balochistan and Karachi in the 90's - where many non-combatants have been killed.
How on earth coul they let such incidents be videoed though?
The video can be anything from real to staged. Like I said whoever recorded it does nt have the army's interests at heart.
I think a lot of people will judge the army based on this 10 minute recording. The reality is that most of us know torture does happen. The most embarassing thing is when someone records it very clearly for everyone to see.
I think a lot o people will be fooled by these very innocent looking everyday elderly characters but they are not there for fun, they are there because they have information. The reality is that the army will need the info quick and these peopel will deny knowledge unless being "treated",

may b it is a stage drama, then we have to give askar award to the one who has made such a real looking video.
Beside why shud not we expect it. As typical they revenging the deaths of their men killed during swat operation

it is indeed a soft treatment but is very humiliating enough to stir the nerves of pashtuns who place the honour above all things.
Re: Video showing Pakistan Army torturing prisoners/suspects
No one is asking you a trick question. you are saying based on one video NWFP should break away from Paksitan? I have questioned the autheniticy of the video. Can you prove that it is genuine. And while at it can you also tell us what NWFP people should do about the brutal killings and hangings they have suffered in the recent past by those who were running amok there.
Interviewing and interrogating terror suspects is really tough. Especially if someone is driven by their faith and ready to die.
The real solution is that from now on, Pak army and police should hand over all the terror suspects to Asma Jahangir. She will set up big tent, cook daigs in Karachi Sadar, Lahore's mall road and other public places. That's where she will hold the suspects, entertain them, and then use her charming methods to find out where the suicide bombers will strike next. The whole process will guarantee that no one is disrespected or worse "tortured".
No it is not a joke. I seriously think that human right activists are the true defenders of liberty and freedom in Pakistan. We as a nation, should give them more power and control to bring peace in Pakistan and control militancy.
We should also hand over Pak military officers and soldiers to Asma Jahangir. She will punish them according to the UN charter of human rights.
While we are at it, we should immediately pull the army, FC, police etc. out of Swat and from FATA.
The next project for the amnesty international is to go in Wazirastan and disarm Taliban.
