I wonder if Ginva Bhutto and Wasi Zafar are some distant relatives. Wasi Zafar also slapped a police officer because the police officer didn't recognize him and asked for an ID. I am so glad that both ... have lost.

Doesn't matter, in case you didn't know, they all behave this way. This is typical Pakistani politics seen commonly in "democratically" elected societies. Thapar maarna is quite often seen in meetings in such. Nothing new. Just pointing out that this is what the Pakistani people wanted OVER a more civilized military "dictatorship".
This Abida Hussain character is a rough one - I bet if she was some poor shoemaker's daughter, she wouldn't have been behaving like that.

The fact that you can even protest all this means that obviously news is getting to your home. And thank God, because how else would we know what's going wrong? I think things could have been much worse in terms of government scandals if the government officials (there are more than just Musharraf you know) weren't being watched by journalists.
A big change has come about in Pakistani politics. You're going to see these sort of gunda gardi moves die down a little, because the wise politicians will now know that if he/she starts slapping people around and hurling abuses, it'll be all over the television, much like Kasuri's batameez and degrading behavior was broadcasted for the entire world to see.
I say good - salo ko tape karo and show everyone what they're up to. I'm personally glad, for one, to be able to see full coverage of Abida Hussain and Ghinwa's true colors. Aren't you?

I've always said that the people Musharraf was sleeping with were making for bad bed fellows. But I'm not going to delude myself that a bunch of hopeful illiterate Pakistanis voting in PPP or PML-N, which effectively takes us back to the pre-Musharraf days, is going to be any better.
That doesn't mean I think Musharraf was a bad politician. I think he did some wrong things, as cited above, but I'm not going to ignore the good he did for our soceity which was incredibly more expansive than the total years PPP and PML-N (or at that time was PML) reigned.
Which is why voting these political parties back in is the most RIDICULOUS thing Pakistanis could do, but what else are you going to do when no decent human being decides to get balsy enough to lead the nation in a revolution overthrowing the corruption that has seeped into Pakistan's bones and is now manifesting itself with high flying "ladies" of Pakistan beating people on camera.
If this isn't a sign of how uncivlized Pakistan is, then I don't know what is.

That's nothing - so many people weren't in the voting registry. Cards were being sent to the wrong addresses.
People think this is minor, but if this was going on all over Pakistan, how many people ended up not voting either out of inefficiency, deliberate confusion to not get people to come out and vote, and keeping women at home (ex. many villages in NWFP)? Result? Look who voted. The folks who always vote - the ones who support their biradari votes, basically. Hence, your village politicians are back in the game.
Too bad Imran khan didn't contest - he might have gotten some extra seats. But no one follows you if you're not a wealthy landowner, I guess.
Anyway, I derail. Back to Ghinwa. What I'm surprised at is the fact that she's not even a blasted Pakistani???
