Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here…

I have never heard of people eating rice with a fork!

In our household we all use spoons, and if for whatever reason if say my dad is given a fork he will look at you like you have come from another planet

So its always gonna be spoon for us

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

We keep both out so people can do what they want. Increasingly, a lot of people have started to eat rice with their hands.

I use a fork. Rupay is right that rice tastes better with a fork imo. Too much cold stainless steel in your mouth along with the rice ruins it.

Stop going to those parties thrown by those stuck up snooty people. :snooty:

Buy spoons made of gold or silver then rice will taste even better. :silly:

:k:

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

^ According to physics thermal theory, heat travels fastly from a body with high temp into body with low temp. So heat from rice (high temp) will travel to cold spoon and after filling spoon with hot rice few times the temperature of spoon will become equal to the temperature of rice. means both bodies attain thermal equilibrium. phewww.w... not very diff to understand right?

In the meantime, making those first few spoonfuls of rice colder.

Not that this argument is well thought out anyway.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

But the rice falls through the prongs of the fork...thats why it makes no logical sense to me.

Eating cake with a fork, I get.

Eating noodles with a fork, I get.

Eating steak or other dishes with a fork, I understand.

But rice...I dont.

how big is this fork of yours?

LOL

Its a normal fork! But the rice is so tiny…I pick it up and it falls off.

I tried this at a wedding I went to recently. There was biryani and I deliberately got a fork just to see if things had changed since the last time I attempted this experiment. Is it easier to eat rice with a fork? Sure enough, the rice was falling through and then only a few kernels left on the stupid thing. Pick it up again, same thing happens. And again.

Whoever came up with this idea would have gotten a beating from me that night.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

theres nothing better than your hands and when youre finished licking each finger is the best, hands all the way.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

i use a fork unless its biryani. then i use my hands. mmmm....
IMHO, a spoon is too generous a helping- its like i'm stuffing two bites at one time.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

Nothing like doing chappaR chappaR with your fingers. Yum yum.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

fork, spoon, whatever is available.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

Actually when I was a kid, I used to go to my friend's house for dinner, one day his mother ( a desi aunty) scolded me at the table for using a spoon for rice.. " beta put that spoon down eat your rice with fork.. you know beta eating with fork is a fashion now , high standard people eat with forks and knives" (obviously in her desi accent) ... that was her exact words to a 7 years old kid and all I wanted to do at that time was to grab that fork and poke it into her deleted.. to this date I eat my rice with spoons.. looking at forks reminds me of that incident and I hate them eve mo..

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here…
