Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

When people eat rice…WHY do they eat it with a FORK? Who said it has to be eaten with a fork? Whose bright idea was this?

Logically, it makes no sense to me and I always reach for my spoon but I get those looks like I just committed a mortal sin so for the love of God…tell me…

i also have the same question..last week i went for lunch with my collegues and on the table there was only fork and knife so i asked the waiter to get me a spoon...one of my collegue asked me for what...i answered to eat rice...lol...i find it weired why people use fork to eat rice....

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

I use fork to eat rice.. I don't use spoon at all. Fork is the only thing I use to eat everything. I guess for me its easier to use fork.. but yeah I've seen a lot of people do that.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

I also use fork :( somehow I find it more convenient

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

i always use spoon. never seen many ppl eating with fork.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

supposedly those who eat with forks eat less, which means that supposedly, they have more self control and are in better shape. PSH, spoons all the way!

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

is it a desi or gora thing to eat rice with forks?

i prefer spoon for most of my foods.

Wait........ What?! Eating rice with a fork?! Have I been living under a rock or what..... I always eat my rice with a spoon didn't even know people used forks

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

Chinese use chop stick for rice as well.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here…

^ I never understood that either :hinna: too many failed attempts

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here…

I always use a spoon..I need to enjoy food.:snooty:

I believe its more of a gora thing.

I personally am better with picking up food with fork than spoon. Idk why.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

chinese rice is different..its usually smaller and thicker and stickier, so therefore it sticks to teh chopsticks.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here…

I use fork . Easy to handle bootiyaan :hmmm:

Plus not too much comes with fork so you don’t get mouthful . Which is good . :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here…

I have always used a fork to each my chawaal with. I actually use a fork to eat everything with except for liquid/mushy things such as soups, daals, icecream, etc.

For some reason its just easier with a fork… and yea.. I think its a gora thing. I never really thought about it till now … but my siblings and I all use forks but my parents use spoons… :hmmm:

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

Actually i have seen, personally tried and served others, rice with spoon and fork both. But using only fork is something new for me.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here…

:e6: fork all the way … eating with a fork doesnt give you a mouthful , which is good … plus I dont like using a spoon at all for anything coz I hate to open my mouth wider to get the spoon in :hinna: … so yeah fork all the way , even for icecream :omg:

I always use a fork too...have done from the beginning ,it's easier to spear your food, but then Mr CO prefers a spoon.Whatever you eat your rice with it, you mix it together and it's easy to pick up with a fork. I think it is a gora thing, like leaving food on your plate.Like CB,I hate to open my mouth too wide too.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here...

Rice tastes better with a fork.

Re: Very Very Very Off The Wall Question Here…

While it’s a con for some of you that you get a mouthful with spoon, it’s actually a pro for me :hehe: I love having mouthfuls of food, ofcourse not like stuffed-mouthful but atleast mouthful enough to feel the food
