Um is it really required/necessary? ![]()

When I go to my cousins house(in NY), they will cover with anything they can find, even a bedsheet or a sofa cushion.. but in Pakistan it’s weird, some will cover and some won’t.. i just wonder.. is it really farz orjust a cultural/traditional thing?
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
I think its a sign of respect...
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
People also turn off loud things such as the tv radio etc to make the azaan heard clearly and recite something...
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
Hmmm ok. So covering your head (regardless of if ure pretty much nangay neck-down) is the same as turning off radio/tv/ etc?
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
When you recite Quran or pray, your cover your head. Same rule applies here. I don't know for sure if it is farz, but my family, relatives and family friends, etc. (women only) veil during Azaan.
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
Its just to show respect, although I don't know what the point of it is, when you don't wear a hijab regularly anyway.
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
lol well the nanga kneck down people shouldnt be nanga in the first place! Basically people as a sign of respect acknowledge the adhaan is being recited and take time to listen to it and get ready for salah (namaz), as it would be quite rude to just ignore it...
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
^ Well not nanga nanga, but like.. wearing a teeshirt/tank top instead of a sweater or something..:halo:
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
lol ok!!! thought you meant something else then lolz!!!!
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
next time suggest a joota if they have around :p, seems like mocking the covering of head to me.
Veiling during azaan? or are you talking about covering head? These are two different things.
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
I think its the same thing as women covering their heads during namaz
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
Veiling during azaan? or are you talking about covering head? These are two different things.
By veiling I meant putting something on your head, even just a lil bit..traditional veiling is nikab?
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
^ yes veiling is niqaab, covering head is perhaps 'hijabing' or 'dupatta-fying'.
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
Ok my bad, so i meant duputta-fying..
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
no its not farz either for reading the Quran, or listening to adhan, but is done more out of respect. However, un-neccesary talk whilst listening to both is a big :nono:
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
If people really want to respect the azaan, they should stop talking and go pray. Uff it's so annoying when people just pull the dupatta over their heads, keep talking about nonsense, and then don't even bother to pray.
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
amana true
what is even sadder is when ppl use noteboosk, newspapers, magazines to cover their heads. I was somewhere where a lady used a magazine to cover her head and I cou;dn't help but remark, aunty you are covering your head with cosmo :D i had a rather revealing pic on it, she was embarassed, I was kicked out of the room...I gues sno place for a teenage punk to mouth off (yeah yeah this is in my tenage years when Tv was black and white)
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
Yep seen it all my life by those who 9/10 keep their head uncovered and even their bossoms or just wear a flimsy “duppatta”.
IMHO, don’t mind my saying this but in reality it is a desperate attempt by such individuals (and women or girls to be clear as guys would hardly do this) to somehow hide their shame and satisfy themselves that “its ok…we are good muslims…”.
The reality is that they are not complying to the plain and simple order of covering of women in Islam. So as a way of satisfying themselves to believe they are doing the right thing they will carry out this act. Most muslims today, both men and women, are in this situation. They know deep down inside they are committing sins, but so that they can keep their good conscience quite and they can face themselves in the mirror each day, they come up with escape routes.
Just my HO = Humble Opinion. ![]()
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
yea i've been wondering about that for a while too!
so there is no hadith or any sound reason for doing it, just out of respect?
some ppl made the comment that such behavior maybe hypocritical if u normally dont wear hijab..... so are women supposed to wear hijab at home 24/7??
Re: Veiling during Azaan..
it's cuz they believe that "nangay sir shaitaan chapataiN maarta hay"...
I kid u not.. it must be in their hadiths somewhere..
