vegetarian dishes for daawat

salams

which good dishes do you suggest for a vegetarian daawat? some of the guests dont eat egg or any kind of veggies so i have to have some purely veggie dishes too…

among the veggie dishes i was thinking of having matar pullao, karhi, aaloo k parathay, aaloo k cutlets…will alloo k cutlets and aallo k parathay be too much aaloo?

i need one more vegetarian dish…but it should be really tasty…not something plain like gobi aaloo or bhindi or baingan..hmmm…it should be really tasty and it should go well with the matar pulao too…baingan ka bharta? nah thats not that tasty either :frowning: and i can never make good lobyay or i would have made that…hmmm…i was thinking daal lekin daal in a daawat? :konfused:

my roomie said i could make malai kofta…but i have never made it before so i dont wana mess it up…plus its not really a pakistani dish, its more like an indian dish and i wanted the menu to be very typically pakistani…

just in case anyone have any recipes for malai kofta though?

and i need some suggestions for the veggie dish  thankshoo

Aaloo Methi :D

aaloo methi? hmmm…its good…but it wont really go well with matar pulao dont u think? or should i make plain chapatian too…hmmm :konfused: koi dhamakaydaar cheez honi chahiyay which is just too good… :smash:

BTW: kabhi khash khash (popi seeds) kaa saalan pakaayaa hay;)?

ﺶﺨﺸﺧ

yaa paapaR kaa saalan:yummy:?

TimaaTar kee chutni :rotfl: i love that with muttar pulao :biggthumb

khashkhash ka saalan? :konfused: naheen…we put khashkhash in anda alloo and some torayein kee sabzi…but have never made a saalan out of it..

i dont wanna try something totally whacky coz if the experiment flops meri bayzti ho jayay gi  :stuck_out_tongue:

so something foul proof plz :halo:

and paapar ka saalan? nope!!! my indian friends eat paapar with their meal so i have had that but never saalan…

tamatar kee chutni can be a side dish…but i dont like it that much…raaita is ok as a chatni i think…and i’ll have salaad…

i repeat…it should be FOUL PROOF…guaranteed to be tasty  and typically pakistani!!!

those two dishes were totally pakistani:) but khair u dunno how to cook:p

make piyaaz karailay :hehe:

oh.. yeh lo two more:p

  • Arvi kaa saalan (bhunaa huvaa waala)
  • MeeTha kaddu (similar to BaiNgan kaa raaita [yougurt wala:D] )

well i never claimed to be an expert bawarchan but i think i do know how to cook :hoonh: and i am 500 % sure i can cook better than u aight

waisae i never even HEARD of khaskhaash ka saalan or paapr ka saalan…i have eaten foods from all parts of pakistan…so i dont know what u r talking bout :snooty:

as for karailay…no thanks :mocking:

i already decided what i am going to make…aaloo cholay with poorian :mocking: and a baingan dish… :snooty:

PS: ever ate kaddu channay kee daal ;)?

:snooty:

hmm…mein ne kabhee naheen suna par…:konfused: maybe its an indian dish? my roomie is indian and she is saying khashkhaash kee kheer banti hae aur paapar ka saalan banta hae…

but i think these r indian dishes…

hmmm…i dont think aaloo paalak really goes well with matar pulao…thats y…

i dont like kaddu chanay kee daal that much either..in fact kaddu is not exactly my favorite veggie either :stuck_out_tongue:

waisay do u know a good recipe for malai kofta...one that u have tried? i might make that instead of the baingan dish...

The reason karachi has more variety of foods is the very fact of immigrants from india back in 1947 :-)
