Vbac or repeat c section!

Salaam everyone

I had an emergency c section with my first bany last febuary i was 40+6 days so they induced my but nothing had happend for over 6 hours and my baby was getting distressed so tey carried out an emergency c sec just after midnight!

I fell pregnant again just after my baby turned 6monthe was totally unplanned and shocked me but i have got my hea around it now alhumdulillah its a blessing from Allah swt.

I visited te consultant recently who suggest i go for vbac but im soo scared to, i would rather just have a date n go and have another c sec. Im too scared to gthru all that again n end up with an emergecy c so id rather have a planned c sec.

Am i stupid in wanting this? Consultant said its down to me what i want and decide. I need to tell them by end of marxh

Would love to hear ur experiences

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

Apologies for the spelling errors am using my phone!

Im just so confused i went to see te consultant with my mind set that i want another c section but afterseeing him and his negativity towards anther c section im worried. He basically said in not so direct words that this op is a risk to my life ad jusst beuase i had 1 good experience dont meant this would be too.

I had emergency c section last time after going through full labour and hours of pushing. No pain killers.

Nw i m due in april. Scard bt want to try normal as i cant take weeks to recover. Dnt have time.

Went to attend info section and i was told that vbac at has 84% succesd rate at that hospital.

I was told to stay hme. Nt to rush.

I will try vbac. C section is ladt resort

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

Another reason why im scared is becuase of the small gap between by the time im due its going to be 15 moths since my c section

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

Good luck Roshni i wish i had ur will power my mind is tellin me to try normal as recovery time would be quicker and im going to need that as my girl will only be 15 months by then but im just too scareed;(

Misskhan i m scared as well. Bt wat im told is if i stay hme, keep moving and sit with back straight in last months and labour will b most likely short thann first.

Midwife said nt to use recliners, and sit on dinning chair with handx on table and keep tummy forward it can change baby position. If sit with relaxed back or dnt lean forward baby tends to stay close to back thus increases chance of c section.

Only go to hospital if u see fresh bright blood abt 10cm or have pain on scar between contractions.

Im trying to walk alot. Use heat packs and stay hme till end. As with previous c section hospital cant give food to eat due to policies bt at hme u can eat anything.

Some dr might nt give enough time or hurry for c section.

With a toddler its better for you to go normal. Try pain killlers. Morphene. Epidural.

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

personally, i would go for the VBAC. iA if i get pregnant again, this is what i plan to do because my c-section recovery was horrific and painful and i would not want to experience that pain again. i know the c-section is more predictable but it sounds like you had an otherwise healthy pregnancy so why would you opt for another major abdominal surgery? having said that, they do recommend c’s when you get pregnant so soon after giving birth because there is a chance of complications if you go into labour on your own. i would speak to your doctor in further detail about the pros and cons of each, and your concerns. and if your doctor is unwilling to discuss these or cannot answer you satisfactorily, then i would highly recommend getting a second opinion on the matter.

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

15 months is too little a time to successfully attempt vbac, a 3-4 yrs gap is what is generally recommended. Do get a second opinion and if attempting vbac make sure the facility is equipped to carry out emergency c-sec and nicu.
A baby in my extended family passed away during birth from a vbac attempt with a 13 month difference.

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

Thats the thing i saw a consultant and he was asian and he was just dead set against anoter c and kept going on about the nehative effect of it all! I am seeing him again but i thnk i might ring the hospital and ask to see a different consultant. I will also discuss this matter with my midwife but for some reason im being pulled more towards the c section option. I personally feel my body isnt upto gng through a vbac ima lready getting pains in the wound area.

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

isn’t 15 months too early to try vbac?

I know everyone has their opinion and choice but I also had an emergency c section and so far I don’t have any intention for vbac- who knows if it may change once I get pregnant but I have no desire to repeat that 36 hours of back labor again. Alhamdulillah I had a good recovery from c so probably my experience is different.

Talk to a different consultant as well.

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

My personal experience from the c was good too alhumdulillah. I was up and about within 2/3 days

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

My elder sis had 1 vaginal birth which resulted in 3rd degree tear, 2nd time was emergency c section and thrd time planned c section. She said from her personal experience she would prefer c section over vaginal birth. She recovered frOm her c sec alot quicker in comparison to the natural birth.

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

I googled and there are many women who successfully had vbac after 14, 15 and 16 months of c-section. I think doctors can check scarring on the uterus from first incision to be sure.
I had a vbac and even though my recovery was not easy, I still recommend vbac over c-section.

No one goes and have a surgery for anything else unless it is needed so why go for a c-section(major surgery) when you do not necessarily need it.
I would suggest do your research on repeat c-sections as well.
Every body is different and heals differently. A friend of mine has 3 kids , all through c-sections plus another c-section for a miscarriage (in later stage of her pregnancy). She had major complications , sever bleeding in her last delivery, the doctors removed her uterus in the last surgery.
I am not trying to scare you but just informing you that multiple surgeries are not great either.

But in the end its your choice.

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

Sorry but whats VBAC

^Vaginal Birth After C-section

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

I am in the exact same boat. I had my son about 5 years ago and he was an emergency c section. My recovery was quick and I had no issues what so ever with the c section. But I had plenty of help and just had to take care of myself and the baby. Now, my doctors are recommending a vaginal birth (also know as VBack) ESP if I want more kids in the future. But I don’t know how my recovery will be with a VBack. I have no help and have my 5 year old to take care of.

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

aoa

i had an emergency c-sec with my son in sept 2011, i had vbac for my daughter in january 2013, so only a gap of about 15 months. vbac is definitely possible, and i would say recovery for vaginal birth is better for many reasons - you get to spend time with your baby just after they are born and can initiate breastfeeding straight away because you dont have to go into recovery room. - you avoid major abdominal surgery and scarring. - can move around better after and dont have to be on constant painkillers. and the overall great feeling of giving birth naturally is just undescribeable!

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

Since u had a VBack, I have to ask: was it really as painful as it looks? Did u take an epidural?
So all my sisters have had c sections so they can’t say much about natural births. My mom has been scarring me that it’s painful and tearring happens and that I should just go for the csection and not try so hard for a VBack. She said recovery is still hard after VBack. My recovery after csection was Alhamdullilah very very smooth. I was on pain killers but just for a few days and was walking about as soon as I got home. So which one is best?? VBack or csection, recovery wise

Re: Vbac or repeat c section!

I wont lie to you, it definitely is painful, I was screaming into my mums chest towards the end! I had a fairly short labour so I didn’t have time to get an epidural as I was nearly at pushing stage..just had gas. My daughter had her hand next to her head do she wasn’t coming out as quick as the doctors wanted do they cut me (episiotomy) and used vacuum aswell. The pushing is definitely hard but honestly when you hold your baby there is a great sense of achievement. My recovery for my csec was also pretty quick, but even though I had stitches with my vbac recovery was still good , just on panadol for a few days. I wanted vbac from the start because I would like more children inshaaAllah.. Just decide with whatever your heart says and what you are comfortable with. Everyone has different experiences. I read a lot of birth stories when I was pregnant just so I could be prepared for anything. Just be positive and pray
