^ Malik and Afridi have been very effective in the ODI's for Pakistan. I dont think we should change the balance of the team which is doing well in ODI's. Malik and Afridi have been one of the biggest reasons why Pakistan has been doing so well in ODi's recently, well at least much better than test matches. Kaneria is not one day material...and untill Afridi and Malik are doing the job with ball...I dont think we need him in the ODI team...plus both of those all-rounders bring firpower into the batting line up as well.

^^ I know they are not going anywhere, what you are talking is past when we had likes of Imran Khan, Sarfaraz Nawaz, 2 W’s but it has changed if you haven’t noticed. go back and study the past 10 ODI’s pakistan has played and can you find distinct performance in each and every match, I doubt that, you will always find mix and match of performances For e.g. Pakistan Platinum jubliee match vs India, The highlight was butts century but without the support of Inzi, Malik (batting) Younis Khan’s running out 10dulker, Afridi and Razzaq bowling effectively
bottom line: collective effort/ team work is what Pakistan team more rely on now than ever.

Both Malik and Afridi have been effective on subcontinent pitches, they are yet to be tested on Australian pitches.
Malik and Afridi have been effective, but keep in mind…they also had Sami and Shabbir with them in their batting line up. With Sami and Shabbir not there, and Akhtar already fighting with injuries, i would not send my top strike baller, in the Tests, back home if i were in charge.
Kaneria bagged 102 wickets in 23 tests, and has been declared a world class leggie by everyone. He has proven effective against everyone and everywhere, be it playing in the subcontinent against Bangladesh or Australia in their backyard. Give me one good reason why he is not a one day material?

Collective/Team effort is what Pakistan needs right now and i agree with you on it.
All iam saying is that in order to survive, we need our best 11 cricketers playing. There have been a few injuries, well you cant fight nature, but when you see inform specialist ballers, who have been your top strike ballers in the Tests, sent back you can help feeling disgusted.
Especially at a time when Akhtar, Sami, Shabbir and Razzaq are all fighting with injuries. Kaneria could have been of great help and this was the time for him to show his skills at the ODI level.

how come if he unfit to play side matches ..how will all of a sudden will he be fit when it counts .. on the big stage??
whats the policy on sending players back anyway?? send them back only if they are unfit if performance is a criteria .. 12 players need to be sent home .. and dani certainly shouldn't have been one of them.

I hope its Ego and du'a karo its fatal frac to it, coz what I can say is that he did bowl well during the test, maybe he is trying to walk the walk rather than just talking. :p
and I think so his injury is serious as any other players.
MELBOURNE, Australia (AFP) - Struggling opening batsman Matthew Hayden will be rested for Australia’s first two matches in the triangular one-day cricket series against the West Indies and Pakistan, selectors said.
The decision was made by the selectors in conjunction with Australian team management and Cricket Australia (CA) general manager of cricket operations, Michael Brown, a CA statement said on Tuesday.
“The selectors believe that this short lay-off should help Matthew as he prepares for the remainder of the VB Series and all other cricket that lies ahead,” said chairman of selectors Trevor Hohns.
"The 14-man squad will give us the flexibility to give players who have taken part in both forms of the game over the past few months a break from time to time, and in Matthew’s case we can always recall him earlier if the situation is deemed necessary.
“We will nominate other players for a break throughout the series.”
Hayden has looked jaded in this summer’s home Test series against New Zealand and Pakistan.
The triangular one-day series begins Friday when Australia play West Indies at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Australia take on Pakistan in Hobart on January 16.

WI doesn't have too many Super stars ,, but i feel they're starting to learn to PLAY AS A TEAM...

Errrr... easy ride ^^ didn't you see the dhoobi dhulai in test by aussies.... now they need to do permanent press so they need some help from the west indies Jin :p
So far they were playing what rainy want to play ... something with "k" lol and I hope they start playing cricket now!
With six specialist batsmen and 3 1/2 allrounders (Hafeez counted) and two specialist bowlers, it would be a winning combo. Here, Khatmal out from the team, Taufeeq keeping the wicket like yesterday's match.
Since its a proven thing that strong batting line up wins the ODI matches, this would be the best solution in our current circumtances. If we manage to post some 280+ runs with this strong batting lineup and some hard hitting by Afridi and Razzler at the end, we can Actor, Rao, Afridi, Rana and Hafeez can defend the total. I think thats all we have in the bowling department anyways.
All we're risking is Kamran, and I don't see much of a difference if Taufeeq keeps the wicket.

Hafeez against Australians? Hell no man. You need Younis khan in their, in one form another. He had a good test series vs Australia, he needs to play every match. You can't keep throwing in young players especially against a team like Australia. If Shoaib Malik doesn't play i would let Yasir Hameed play one-down and play Taufeeq Umar. In any case i wouldn't let Kamran Khatmal get anywhere close to the field, only when he's bringing in the Gatorade or Mecca Cola. Younis Khan and Taufeeq Umar can Wicket keep.
