i would say that the replacements are not very impressive.
Taufiq is a Test player and is been send to play ODI. Azhar has lost his prime form and i doubt if he can really produce the top form but would certainly love to see him performing.
Inzi's form is also serious concern. And i hate to sense that this may just be the begining of end of Pakistan's finest ever batsman.

He will have to seriously improve his fielding. Maybe one can tolerate that fielding standard in tests (specially when you have no other choice) but for ODIs, his fielding needs to improve seriously.
Secondly, for ODIs, I think we have some other options who can be more effective in this format as compared to Kaneria.

what are these selectors doing…I dont think he’s good enough for any form of cricket but if you wanna try him…he should have played in the Test series…since he is a slow player and likes to take his time. We all know how he gets clean bowled trying to play his big off drives. but the rest of the changes are good…and I agree with Saby…If Malik is unable to bowl in the ODI’s then Hafeez should replace him. And Azhar is probably back up for Razzaq as he is still ill by the “mystrey illness.”

Whoever utters anything against Taufeeq Umer about not being a one day player should get a kick on the rear from the moderators. He is a quality **batsman, and is a good enough player for any form of the game. Just thank Allah that Farhat Sifarshi was sent back.

Top openner's slot is not an issue any more. All finds are good but raw.
We need either Saqlain back or a new witty spinner.
Danish has some serious mental flaws to his game plan, he can be expensive at times.
Last but not least a 'WICKET KEEPER cum Batsman' with some brains who can control the reigns from the 'stumps tower' to watch the proceedings rather then echo his voice of 'well done BoY,,come on BOY,,,.

i’m content with the changes rigged for da vb series. i’m happy azhar mehmood and tufs’ are back + for sure razi’ should be dropped for azhar mehmood. azhar has been very consistent for surrey in the county championship over the last 2 years, he is consitent with both bat and bowl.
i believe danny should be included to as he’ll only mature as odi player if he gets’ a few games under his belt and becomes a regular in the odi starting x1, what better way to kick start then against the world champs’.
wasim bari and co’ needs to be praised for including taufeeq umar for the odi squad, he is a talented batsmen and a gr8 mark waugh type slip fielder, a screw is definitely loose if a player of tufs’ ability can’t make the starting x1 and someone like mohammed sami and imran farhat can.

i think if razzaq playes, then azhar will be in the lineup too cause sami isnt playing... if malik's bowling action is cleared we would play with 4 allrounders, azhar, malik, afridi and razzaq....we all now BW loves allrounders i hope azhar can get back into his earlier form he was a dynamite player although i dont know about 4 allrounders but it would make a really long tail thats for sure

All the decisions apart from recall of Hafeez were automatic given the fitness problems. As I said, the newly found balance of our ODI team will be hurt if Malik plays solely as a batsman. Either we will have to bring Younis in as keeper to accomodate Hafeez for Akmal or we dont play Hafeez at all. Yasir and Salman Butt will form the opening combo considering good performance by Yasir in the last test but I sicnerely hope that Taufeeq performs if he gets the chance.
the-game- If Taufiq is/was a proven onedayer player, he hasnt performed in that form of the game apart from a good fifty against Zimbabwe in sharjah cup final april 2003. Having said that I seriuosly hope he delievers when he gets the chance so that we have good openers trio in Yasir/Butt/Taufeeq.

Well, that’s the only tournament in which he was given a regular opening slot. I’m sure he will come good if he was given more chances instead of sifarshi clowns like Farhat (who have the nerve to play hook shots with two men on the fine leg boundary, and that too when the team is in trouble). If you have seen his 2003 test innings against South Africa in South Africa, I’m sure you will agree that none of our batsmen (apart from Inzamam) show as much temperament as this guy does. Really.

I dont see Taufeeq getting a chance as an opener unless Salman/ Yasir fail entirely and Pakistan lose the early matches.
The coach of the teams likes to stick with; "whats hot/ clicking" so far Yasir and Butt did well in the last test and its for sure they will be opening.

i don't see azhar doing anything special.. and i don't see taufeeq doing anything worthwlie even if granted the chance...
i have high hopes from salman and yasir ..lets hope they click as an opening pair.
we lack big time in the bowling department ..
but its smart to strengthen the batting line up rather than taking below average bowlers who can't bat at all.. india and sri lanka did that for years ... playing 8 to 9 batsmen who could bowl a bit ... till finally pathan came to rescue zaheer and zoysa to Vaas.

I dont seem to understand the logic behind sending Kaneria back. We all know how effective a quality specialist spinner can be in ODI's. Kumble, Saqlain and Warne all have been greatly effective in ODI's.
Secondly looking at the current situation of our team, we desperately need quality specialist bowlers rite now. Sami and Shoaib both being injured and unavailable, this leads to highly vulnerable Shoaib Akhtar being the brunt of the balling attact. Pakistan's ODI side needs Kaneria now, more than ever.
We are going into a series against two highly competetive sides, with a very mediocre balling attack. Azhar Mehmood most likely to take Sami's position in the side, this would lead to 3 all rounders. Kaneria surely could have replaced one.

Desperately what we need is common sense, discipline, organized plan, but this cant be true with Pakistani team and the new coach....
Kaneria how can you exactly fit him in? ........ :
1) Yasir, (2) Butt, (3) Malik (if injured = Hafeez) (4) Inzi ( you bet after battered by Khan) (5) Yoyo ( I hope he doesnt Yoyo in the matches) and then to follow afridi, razzaq, azhar, akmal, rana and the air plane who usually runs out of gas :O
they need variation for bowling and its certain after looking at lara's good form and you all have seen Gilchrist and other kangroo's form we need more than 5 bowlers to work miricales and our coach does not consider Mr. Kaneria as a ODI material.
so go figure !

^^ and you consider the bunch of ballers that have gathered in Aus. better than Kaneria...and will be highly effective against the likes of Lara, Gayle, Gilchrist, Ponting and the rest?
Your team consists of 3 allrounders, (malik, razzaq and azhar), 4 if you consider Rana as an allrounder. Surely dropping one of them, afridi for example, could make room for Kaneria.
Our entire balling attack is very mediocre, except for Akhtar. Pakistan has always won matches because of its strong balling line up. I dont see our team going anywhere, with this mediocre balling line up.
