No extract from a book was banned, normally the WHOLE book was banned. Anyway, by 1985 the sencorship on sexual matters was already very lenient. The tough sencorship laws were mainly enforced on political issues.
I do not see anything wrong in the quote as it is. I myself was in several congregations where this part was read to the whole assembly including children.
ANY Bible deliberately written/translated/changed to convey a specific group of people’s ideas (even mentally sick people) is not worth the paper it’s written on.
